Hi, I am applying for the DTV. I select United States from the dropdown menu as current location. I get disclaimer: Attention You CANNOT apply for a Thai e-Visa while you are physically in Thailand. Is this just a standard notice everyone receives at this point, or does the site think I’m somehow in Thailand? I’ve had my application rejected already with no explanation and would prefer not to waste more money making mistakes. (I have no VPN turned on. I am not hiding my IP address through safari) any help would be appreciated.

The e-visa site doesn’t track the location of your IP address but the payment system does and the payment will fail if you are in the “wrong” place.

They might not track IP address but they should be able to check if you are inside or outside Thailand on the date you applied through to the date you are approved.

I think I misread the talk about VPN etc. Understand now the OP is not in Thailand and only concerned about the drop down. Thanks for making me see clearly. There are a lot of dubious posts about DTV applications.

This is a generic warning. The system has no way of knowing where you actually are, as they do not track IP addresses. That's why the warning is there.
