What should I include in my application for a freelancer visa from Ankara, Turkey?

Jun 8, 2025
Hello everyone. I am preparing my application now, and just wanted to ask a couple questions:

1. I am currently living in Georgia (the country) and the nearest embassy is Ankara. So when I apply online, that is where my application will be processed. Has anyone done theirs there, and if so how long did it take and was it easy or hard?

2. I will be applying as a freelancer, and just opened an LLC to formalise things, and so I can bid on remote consultancy contracts. What should I put in my cover letter?

3. I have a ton of examples of my work that I will include, but do we also give them our CV?

Thank you so much!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is preparing for a freelancer visa application from the Ankara embassy and has several questions regarding the process, including expected processing times, the content of the cover letter, and whether to include a CV. Responses indicate that applications can take over a month, and it's suggested to include company registration and possibly describe the work situation without focusing on the new LLC status. Some users recommend direct answers to specific queries rather than lengthy explanations.

Hi Maria, do search "Ankara" key word in this Facebook group and you will find other applicant's experiences applying from there. It does seems like application from Ankara takes over a month in most cases. If time is a constraint for you, you may consider applying from one of the SEA countries with quicker approval process (2-3 weeks but sometimes faster).

Popular countries are Vietnam, Philippines and Indonesia.

Make sure you provide your company registration if you are applying as a workcation and business owner

If you work for yourself then write a letter from your company to yourself allowing you to work online remotely for companies only outside of Thailand

it’s just a letter you write as the owner saying yourself is employed by X company and we allow (your name ) to work remotely

the problem might be that you've just registered your bzn. Embassies tend to prefer something that was set 6+ months prior the application

would it be better to simply say I’m a freelancer then, and not mention the company?

1. They do not seem to be extremely picky, but they're slow.

2. I do not think you have a LLC, you have a I/E with small biz status most probably. You tink too mut, just describe your situation.

3. I did not include a CV and they did not ask for one.

thank you for your reply! Just to respond to your points:

1. What timeframe is normal?

2. Why would you say that? I DO have an LLC, incorporated in the US with articles of organisation etc. For the consultancy work I do it is important for some contract bids. I just set it up recently. I was working as a freelance multimedia journalist/communications specialist for humanitarian/UN organisations as well as news/media for the past 12 years.

3. Ok, I will skip the CV then

2. I said you have a I/E with small biz status, because I thought you have a Georgian biz. A Georgian LLC would not be very smart to work as a freelancer (higher formation and maintenance costs, higher tax rate).

1. I do not know what is normal, but I have read quite a few desperate reports about the waiting time, and my application took 2 months.
