Hi, i am trying to apply for an o visa but it is asking about insurance which i thought had wasn’t a requirement.

Anyone know an agent that does this for me?
Answer summary

You have probably done the non oa scroll down a bit further on the selection and click on the one saying over 50 and staying 90 days because it is only a 90 day visa until extended then you will be on the correct selection

You need to select single entry for the O visa. Multiple entry is the OA visa which does require insurance

Use a Desktop Computer/Laptop/Notebook, or, for those more technologically savvy, set Tablet/Mobile phone/Cell phone/iPad/iPhone browsers to "Desktop Mode" in order to navigate the Thai eVisa Website properly

Perhaps bit off topic but .... insurance is always a "must-have". Even if your visa does not require it. Unless your plans in Thailand are to sit at home and look out of the window for 99.99% of the time. Better pay a small amount monthly/yearly than start looking for hundreds of thousands in an emergency...

I currently pay less than €40 per month for an insurance that covers almost the same amount as your fund. I would choose this option any time, instead of keeping hundreds of thousands or more sitting on the account. But I guess it is a question of choices.

"small amount" ????? wait until you are in your 60's and try to get full cover for a "small amount". I have self-insured for almost 20 years and have built a medical fund that I now cap at 1.5m Baht.

Ray Bingham I would plan to do the same and have it sat in a 'high' interest easy access account. some of these are paying around 4% interest, so would be earning around £120/month. Personal circumstances will dictate what is suitable for each of us.

You need the 90 day visa not the long stay one which gives you 12 months

You must be applying for the OA, the O doesn't require insurance

David E MooreThe Thai NZ embassy asked me for it last week when I applied for Non O 90 day. Was definitely not a Non OA application. I had insurance so wasn’t an issue to provide.

Cathy Odgers I think that's specific to the NZ embassy. Although I'm not too familiar with it, I've seen a lot of comments suggesting to apply outside of NZ for this reason.

David E Moore that's based mainly on cost as applying in NZ gets you the most expensive visa worldwide (unless you use an agent 😉)

Ted Shelly you selected O-A in first screen shot. So it's wrong. . The Non-O is 90 days and you then use it to extend for 12 months.
