Greetings,

Would anyone here have experience with acquiring the 65k baht per month visa?

We have also seen info on the 80k baht per month income verification option.

Which of the 2 would be more advantageous when both requirements can be met?

Very respectfully,

Lane K.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around acquiring a visa in Thailand that requires a minimum monthly income of either 65,000 baht (typically for those 50 years or older for a long-term stay) or confusion over a supposed 80,000 baht alternative, which is clarified as a requirement combining income and bank deposit amounting to at least 800,000 baht. The benefits and requirements for both financial options are explored, with suggestions to check official Thai immigration websites for the most accurate and up-to-date information. Users share experiences about required documentation and visa application strategies.

Thank you all for your much appreciated responses. I’ve made additional inquiries and will provide updates as they occur.

Best wishes for the New Year to all. 🙏

- the 80,000 bht should read 800,000 bht - it looks like they are talking about a combination of income and savings - the total over 12 months should not be less than 800,000 bht. Best to check this sort of stuff on an official thai immigration website.

Yep

- there are official apps also that you can download. Good idea to set up a new google account with Thailand as your location as some apps only available from thai play store.

Rgr, and thanks again.

If long term visa for Thailand is more pain than gain, we’ll just do a bounce in and out.

Malaysia will give us 90 days without issue. We aren’t looking to homestead, more home-base hunting. Philippines was initially recommended for longer stays, but unfortunately it is nowhere on our travel plans 😉

- understood. Good luck!

Here is the information currently available on the official website:

3. Financial evidence : a guarantee letter from the bank and a copy of bank statement showing a deposit of the amount equal to and not less than 800,000 THB or an income certificate with a monthly income of not less than 65,000 THB or a deposit account plus a monthly income in total not less than 80,000 THB.

I am assuming you are American, and as such the US embassy no longer issues income certificates. For that option you need to show at least 12 continuous months of direct deposits into your Thai bank account, in your name only, from an overseas source.

Never heard of 80k per month option. Are you sure you're not confusing this with the 800k bank deposit option?
Steve ********
@Bra****
have you struck this 80k process before? It seems to be a combination method? You're more Au Fait with US requirements than I would be, but it's the first I've seen of it

never heard of it before

@Keao ******
Do you have a link to that website please? I've been living in Thailand for 23 years and have never heard of this 80k/month before. The requirement for a non-O (age 50+) is 65k/month and has been for many years

@Steve *******
Keao Farms they say in TOTAL 80.000. I am sure is the combination method , money in the bank and a monthly income for a total av 800.000 baht . They have forgotten a zero.
Steve ********
@Giorgio ********
That makes sense. I think you're right, they've simply left a '0' off.

interesting, it’s seems the view of info looks different from the outside looking in.

@Keao ******
Most certainly is! That's an oddity. The standard criteria is 65k/month. The 80k looks like a combination of monthly transfers AND a lump sum! I'd stick with the 65k transfer. Keep in mind this must be done monthly (calendar month) and must be an international transfers, as US citizens can no longer use the "income" method as the US embassy won't sign the required affidavit.
Dave *********
@Steve *******
with the monthly income is that mean any day in each month? Like the 5th of every month or any day in the month as long as it’s deposited in one month, irregardless of what day?
Steve ********
@Dave ********
Provided it's within the month it's fine. I've done transfers as early as the 1st, and as late as 21st with no problems
Dave *********
@Steve *******
that’s good to know just in case a transfer doesn’t go thru I can send it again within the timeframe to get it in before the month is up.

pls clarify, the 80k baht monthly income requirement option is still promulgated on the official Thai government website. Thank you for the response.

The Thai government website and info we are accessing is for US passport holders over the age of 50.

the info was recently acquired from the Thai government visa website. We also noted the 800k deposit option and wish we were eligible, lol

Minimum income 65k Baht per month is for a yearly extention of stay based on being 50 or older. There's no 80k Baht per month option AFAIK. There is a minimum income 40k Baht per month for guys married to a Thai citizen.
