TLDR : Answer Summary
The user missed a 65k monthly payment and wants to know if having 800k baht in the bank four months prior to their visa renewal is sufficient or if they need to hire an agent for assistance. The comments suggest that meeting the 800k requirement is crucial, but discuss whether the missed payment will impact the current extension or the next one. Opinions vary on needing to hire agents and the interpretation of the rules surrounding fund maintenance.

you have two options: quickly park the required minimum of 800,000 THB in your account, or pay an agent and experience trouble to get away from the agent in the following years, because using an agent who will remove the money within 10 minutes, will result in you violating the upkeep rule of the deposit in the rest of the year. Understand? And you will be faced with the same problem when putting your own 800,000 THB into your account - you will be confronted with the same stance: before you can switch back to the 12-months transfer method, to need to follow the rules for the upkeep of the 800K deposit for a full year

My last visa I had to keep my B800k for four months after the new extension, then you can reduce for 6 months to B400k definitely need the full amount two months before renewal. Last time immigration added this information in my passport

Mark Jamo James, the 800k must be there 2 months before the renewal and 3 months after. But if it's with BKB, the 800k must be there for 4 months before they issue a bank letter.

Jan Jb that is not an Immigration rule, but a Bangkok Bank requirement. Has nothing to do with Immigration, they still want to see only the letter confirming a two months seasoning

Nongnuch Kamdee, I'm not saying that immigration requires the 800k to be in your account for four months before the renewal, but the Bangkok bank requires it otherwise they won't issue a bank letter. Perhaps you should read my message more carefully.

wait. For your last extension to have been based on 65k you can't have missed a month. If you obtained your last extension based on 12 months of 65k baht transfers from overseas you will be OK sticking 800k into your account now and using it for your forthcoming extension

I switched from my pension income to 800k and had to provide a copy of my pension income from the previous year in addition to the necessary documents.

AuthenticOlive4517 Simple, start again with a new Non-O by leaving the country and re-entering on Visa Exempt and applying in country or getting one while outside

then you need to answer John about how you got your extension prior to the one you are now on, 65k or 800k method?

I would say that's ok assuming your last extension was also based on monthly transfers. If it was based on 800k you would need to have met the terms of that extension

I am not so sure (I am happy to be wrong)..the first check by an IO is for last year’s criteria to be met - it hasn’t because of the missed 65k. I would be inclined to get your 800k ready and speak to your local office. Decide your next steps after that meeting- you MAY need to use an agent.

the monthly income option works differently. When you apply for the extension you have to prove 12 months of transfers but there is no requirement to keep transferring going forward

yes John, but if the current extension has been approved on a monthly income basis, the first thing an IO will do is to check compliance with that criteria. The missing payment fails that check. I am not sure what an IO would do in that case…especially if 800k is maintained well before ‘renewal’. I liken it to dipping under

he can't have a missing payment for his current extension if that was issued based on 12 months of income transfer. Only the application for the next extension is affected, hence putting 800k in his account will work
