TLDR : Answer Summary
The user applied for a DTV workcation visa in Japan but was instead granted a multi-entry tourist visa. Community members suggest that the bank statement may have influenced this decision, and some have had similar experiences. Discussions revolve around the requirements for a DTV visa, the implications of holding a tourist visa, and potential actions to take, such as reapplying from another country.
If your bank statement is less than 3 months yes they can give you visit visa with multiple entry for your bank statement be matured over 3 months then you can get a DTV

What is the Multi Entry means in that visa.... can we do enter and out several times until the visa end date ?
each time you enter you get stamped in for 60 days as long as the visa is valid. Each entry can also be extended by 30 days at your local immigration office inside Thailand
you were given a 6 month multiple entry tourist visa if you time your last entry carefully and use an extension in country you can get almost 9 months out of it
I'm sure you will be successful elsewhere, i know Japanese who failed to get their DTV in Japan but got it in SEA. As a Toyko resident myself I chose to get it elsewhere as it would be much quicker and less stress.

There must be something in your application that indicated the METV was sufficient for your needs. Normally see this for soft power applications with 6 months or less activity booked but if you applied under workation there must be something else

You should stop acting like a nuisance every time Seanoll. Probably there are chances you can keep using your visa for 5 years without complying to the rules, but you should just stop saying that the offical visa requirements are just my imaginary rules. Then be a man and just post the source of your rules, and not always childish saying others imagine rules while you are the one that is imagining rules.
And just as I said, you would not come up with a link, and so you just prove my point.
Maybe when it is not to complicated for you, you also might reply on the correct post and not on a random one...

Have you thought about taking up creative writing with your overactive imagination?
I have seen this remark from you before, so you may lookup to see my answer.
Just post a link where I can find that your thoughts about DTV are correct, I did ask embassy, immigration office, website of MFA and they all just confirm my ideas, so no imagination here, but you never come up wit any proof of your ideas, so the only conclusion can be you have the overactive imagination.
Unfortunately your imagination might not be enough to start as a creative writer, because there is a lack of creativity.

Luit van der Linde You're not the sharpest knife in the drawer Luity.
When you want to stay for 5 years, you need a reason to stay for 5 years.
Because it is difficult to proof you need to stay 5 years, because it is unreasonable to ask for proof of 5 years soft power activity already at the moment of approval and an employment contract in a lot of cases also does not cover full 5 years, proof for a shorter period is accepted.
But when you only can proof a short time, obviously you are not determined what to do about the rest of the period and they might give you a visa that matches better with your purpose of stay.
It is completely up to the embassy to decide what visa you need.
DTV is not just a visa to live in Thailand, but a visa that allows you to visit the country for certain purposes for short stays of up to 180 days during 5 years.
If you just want to stay there are more appropriate visa.
What I mention above are exact the required rules, you always keep saying they are imaginary, but when you see different rules on an offcial site, please show us all the link or just shut up talking this BS.
But I am almost sure you will not come up with the link, because you don't have...
you risk either your application being refused or being issued a multiple entry tourist visa instead. Better to have longer than 6 months activity

I had the same reaction when I applied from Laos. I received a tourist visa with multiple entry

Japan especially Tokyo wants you to strongly demonstrate your need for a 5 year visa. Did you make use of their pre application service? Your 6 month visa gives you nearly 9 months stay in Thailand. Apply again nearby in SE Asia.
the Thai Embassy in Tokyo and Thai Consulates in Osaka or Fukuoka are notorious and quite a few field reports (even here in this Facebook Group) that applied and paid for a DTV EāVisa, but did NOT receive a DTV EāVisa and got something else, whether Multiple Entry Tourist EāVisa or NonāO Multiple Entry EāVisa....
Buyer Beware in Japan and just apply for a Thai DTV EāVisa somewhere else besides Japan....

How was the interview?

Itās probably correct , there has been a handful of other people that have had the same experience, they probably deemed that you didnāt need a 5 year visa.
Iād suggest use the tourist visa, get your documents in order then later re apply from a different embassy when your tourist visa is finished ā
