Hello everyone! Has anyone applied for a visa in Tokyo? I'm currently in Thailand on an O visa, but I want to get a DTV visa when I return to Japan. (I'm a Japanese citizen)

Japan only allows Japanese citizens or foreign permanent residents. I have not seen any posts from applicants in Japan. I'm a long term resident in Tokyo but have to apply out of Japan as I have a renewable visa. The application process in Japan is much stricter than other countries. I know some Japanese who applied in Cambodia and Vietnam as it is much easier and quicker.

Thank you! The procedures in Japan are stricter than in other countries... I haven't seen many people who have obtained a visa in Japan yet, so I was worried. I am a remote worker for a Japanese company, and I heard that I need to apply for a visa in the country where the company is located. I need to check with the Thai Embassy in Japan beforehand and then proceed with the procedures.

Anonymous participant You can apply from Japan as a citizen, it does not have to be the country of your workplace. You can apply anywhere which allows nonresidents to apply. You can see from posts people apply in SEA although they do not live or work there. Tokyo Thai Embassy told me I can apply either in London my hometown or go to SEA countries. I will be working remotely for a Japanese firm.
