What should you expect when applying for a Non-Immigrant O visa in Japan, specifically regarding the DTV scheme?

I applied for a DTV visa in Japan. In Japan, all visa applications are done online. I received the visa by email one week after applying, but the type of visa was Non-Immigrant O and the validity period was one year. Has anyone else had the same experience? By the way, I am 69 years old.

Multiple-entry 1-year Non-imm O is a good visa. At least you can open a bank account. I'd be happy to get one like this.

You're 69 years old, why didn't you apply for a non-imm O + 1-year extensions on the basis of age? It's way better than a DTV.

You should avoid applying for DTV in Tokyo. If your application in Tokyo is not rejected, you can apply again in another country. If you ask the Tokyo embassy why this is the case, they will answer that it is the kindness of the embassy.

Well they can say whatever they want but it's simply not true. You just apply again in Cambodia or wherever and you'll face zero issues..
Paul *******
You can apply again in another country in any case, regardless of whether you get rejected or not. That's obvious.

According to the Thai Embassy in Tokyo, once your application is rejected, it is difficult to get a DTV permit in another country. This is because the E-VISA application comes with a question: "Have you applied before?"

I applied in Japan. Have been given a date to visit the embassy for an interview in regards. No clue what they'll be asking about.

There was a post by a successful Tokyo DTV applicant who had an interview. Essentially they want to clarify what you have documented. Bring your paperwork and just be ready for some questions.

Just talk about life in Thailand honestly. Please do your best.Don't forget your love for Thailand.

There are a few embassies that will infact give you a different visa from what you apply for . They say well you don't qualify for this one but here's the one we say you do qualify for and automatically give you the one they decide fits

in my personal opinion, i think in this very unique, specific instance, this Japanese national got an even "better" type of E–Visa than the DTV, albeit the validity period is 1 year, instead of 5 years in that he received a Multiple Entry Non–O E–Visa without printed remarks

A non-O normally doesn't have any remarks. If it's a marriage visa, you are eligible to get a work permit on it. Unlike with a DTV.

I was thinking more along the lines that holding an 1-Year Multiple Entry Non–O E–Visa could better assist in Opening a Thai Bank Account more so than anything else in particular.

But, yes, those holding a Non–O based on Marriage to a Thai Spouse, or an Extension based on Marriage to a Thai Spouse can obtain a Work Permit without the need to change to a Non–B Visa

Are you 100% sure you selected DTV? Please tell what DTV scheme you applied under and what type of enrollment proof you supplied.

Anonymous participant Did you have a DTV preliminary consultation with the Thai Embassy in Tokyo BEFORE submitting your DTV E–Visa application on the Thai eVisa website??

When did you have a DTV preliminary consultation and what did the Thai Embassy in Tokyo say about your DTV E–Visa application??

Does it say single entry or multiple entry? Either way, it's a bit odd.

Anonymous participant How much did you actually pay for the DTV E–Visa??

Was it ¥52,000.- Yen, ¥26,000.- Yen, or some other amount??

Anonymous participant seems like they believe your need to be in Thailand for 5 years was not proven so they gave you 1 year instead. But what's even more odd about the whole thing is that embassies don't offer 1 year multiple entry non-O visas anymore.

I don't know if it's possible to contact the embassy, as it's almost impossible for many of them, but it would definitely be worth asking about why it was issued instead of DTV
