TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation reveals that opening a bank account in Thailand with a DTV visa is considered nearly impossible. Multiple comments indicate that banks are currently hesitant to accept this visa for account openings, with some stating that you can only open one if you have a Thai spouse, child, or own property. Suggestions for alternatives include using online banking services for transfers instead.
Anonymous participant 926 need a Thai bank for wise unless you use atm card but you’ll still get charged 250 baht and something to wise after 3 a month
Anonieme deelnemer 926 or even better Wise and N26 and Revolut, never bet on a single horse and they all have free accounts, so no need at all for a Thai bank account.
hm maybe. But without, you can still do instant money transfer, use promptpay with Moreta, and pay anything anywhere with a foreign credit card without any fees if it’s a neobank.
It's obviously very convenient to have a local bank account if you plan to stay the bulk of the next 5 years in a country. Only people who never had and can't get one says it's useless.
