Hi all, I have applied for Non O retirement 90 day visa (fingers crossed) and I aim to open a Thai bank account while in Chiangmai next month. Question: can someone share recent experience as to which bank/branch is easier to deal with? Thanks in advance.
Answer summary
The discussion revolves around experiences of opening a bank account in Chiang Mai while holding a Non-O retirement visa. Many users recommend Kasikorn Bank for its friendly service and efficiency, noting it can be done in under an hour. They emphasize the necessity of having a Non-O visa, a registered Thai phone SIM, and a certificate of residency to successfully open an account.

Kasikorn is the bank to use but you will absolutely need to have a non-O visa first as well as a Thai phone SIM registered to your passport and a certificate of residency from immigration.

Better to use an agency they know the system and it usually means a little incentive to the right person. You have to understand how things work in Thailand.
