Edit: Thanks for all the answers in here. Questions answered and good tips given.

If I was to transfer 65.000 monthly to my Thai bank. Are there any requirements about how long it must stay in account? I assume you can use this money as normal. I want to use this to get my retirement visa in the long run. I'm not planing on staying more then max 6 months and not interested in moving permanently to Thailand. But tourist visa is to much problems around now if using it 2 times pr year.

Point was, some of the 65k I need to use in home country as well for monthly expenses. Only interested in feedback regarding the 65k must stay in account..

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers around the requirements for maintaining funds in a Thai bank account as part of the process for obtaining a retirement visa (Non-O). It's clarified that transferring 65,000 baht monthly is permissible, and there are no restrictions on how long the funds must remain in the account after being transferred for everyday use. However, the initial setup for a retirement visa may require having 800,000 baht in the account for the first year. Users suggest adding a buffer to the transfer amount to avoid issues with regulations and emphasize the importance of complying with immigration rules.

Spend it, send it home, give it away. Makes no difference.

Why not ( I have for over twenty years ,Multiple entry tourist visa ,up to 9 months a year no problems at all as it is pre approved )

No money in account .

You need
*****
0 for a year before you can switch to
*****
and then only if you can prove were it comes from .

I ,after 25 + years of 6 months a year in Thailand ,quite simply don't trust the constantly changing rules and governments with my
*****
0 baht .
Lynnette *******
Your first year's extension you need the 800k in the bank and also during that year you also do 12 months of 65k each month EVERY month. So, that on the second year you can switch to the 12 deposits of 65k method EVERY month, without the 800k .

Depends on what you need to do and what your plan is. Living in Thailand I think income is very important same as other countries in the world. You need to make sure it cover your expenses. For the visa it is not that hard if you got money and prepare documents they want.

And some got blocked ðŸšŦ they can't use the account no more

No problems with my Bkk bank. I even called them and got confirmation that everything is fine. My phone number is confirmed with passport and not a tourist aim.

Well, as stated, i stay 6 month atleast outside of Thailand. And that i need some of this 65k to cover expenses when not living in Thailand. If i was to live all year in Thailand, then i would never need to send anything back, Then i would sell most stuff in home country and i would not need show 65k, but had the 800k instead.

@Frode ********
before you come back and have plan to live here, you should do non-o visa too. Right now they won't open Thai bank account for tourists only long term visa. It might change in the future but from now on you need to check the news from Immigration too.

I was transferring the $65,000k to the bank but by the time it got into my account he was 64 something so you better check on what they're charging you to put it in the bank

Since you are only looking to be in thailand for 6 months at a time why dont you look at the dtv soft power that way you have any money tied up in thailand only in your own account in your own country and of course good for 5 years?

Just read about a girl got denied entry with DTV soft power.
Graeme ******
@Frode ********
where did you read that? I have not heard any issues with DTV

was posted In here not long ago. Seems to be deleted now. Was daughter of OP that was denied entry, after leaving Thailand for 2 weeks, during Thai language course. They pulled here aside asking questions etc and probably ask about thai language skills. Where there was a ton of jokes about cooking classes needing to cook for IO.

I highly doubt everyone on DTV soft power visa, actually do the classes.

From what I read about these visa is they recommended that the courses have duration above 6 months. And if I going for DTV, it will be to attend to it. I'm never this long in Thailand. I'm normaly 2 times x 90 days in Thailand.
Graeme ******
@Frode ********
A thai language course is not a valid soft power for the DTV so may be that was the issue? Perhaps she was on a different visa thats why they deleted the post. You can have a muay thai course over a 6 month period but you can complete the course over a longer time frame doing the same lessons with a few at each visit to thailand. so for example you can spread it over a year or 2 attending classes over a longer time frame so you dont need to complete it within 6 months they are very flexible.

@Graeme *****
Thank you. So it's ok to take breaks when going to my home country? And not need to do 4-5 days pr week.
Graeme ******
@Frode ********
yes you can take breaks i have discussed this with a muay thai course in chiang mai and they are very flexible. I go to thailand for 2 months at a time and total 6 months in a year so discussed this with them and they said no problem 30 lessons that can be spread over what ever time suits me
Lynnette *******
@Frode ********
you'd need to explain the reason and details of why it was denied. One person being denied suggests some issue with her paperwork.
Brandon ************
@Frode ********
where? Never seen any reports of anyone denied entry with DTV.
Glenn *****
It has to be foreign transfers and your second year. After that, you can spend it immediately. Best if you add a little padding like 66K just in case. 64,999 is not acceptable.
Brandon ************
If you get a 90-day non-O visa, and then get the first 1-year extension using 800,000 baht in your Thai bank account. Then during this first year you can transfer minimum 65,000 baht per month as an international transfer into your account, you can use this for your 2nd annual extension. What happens with the 65,000 baht is irrelevant. It's for you to use however you want, once it is transferred into your account.
Wouter ******
@Brandon ***********
What happens if you come to Thailand on a 90-days non-O, open a bank account, return to your home country starting to send that 65k baht monthly, come back to Th again after 1 year based on a 90 days non-O visum. Can you get a one year retirement extension?
Brandon ************
@Wouter *****
you only have 2 options for the first 1-year extension from a 90-day non-O visa. Embassy certified income or 800,000 baht in your Thai bank account. It doesn't matter if you have 10 years of monthly transfers, it will not be accepted for the first 1-year extension.
Nongnuch ********
@Brandon ***********
I don't understand your last remark . . . why would you not be able to apply for the one-year extension with a bank statement confirming 12 months of continuous 65,000 THB transfers into your Thai bank account?

The application to the 1-year extension allows the use of EITHER income affidavit, OR the 12-months transfer proof, OR the 800,000 THB deposit proof.

Nowhere it says that you cannot apply using the 12-months transfer proof for the application to a 1-year extension after having entered on a 90-days Non-Imm-O visa
Brandon ************
@Nongnuch *******
it doesn't matter what it says. Immigration offices WILL NOT accept proof of monthly transfers for the very first annual extension.

@Brandon ***********
Really? I did not know that.

What about the Non-OA?
Brandon ************
@Marianne *******
with the non-OA, some immigration offices might allow it and some might not. It's very difficult to plan around it because if you ask at the beginning of the 1-2 years you can get with the non-OA and then go to make the switch after you've been in Thailand for 1-2 years, the answer might have changed by then.

Already have bkk bank. So they only care about looking at the 65k international transfer into the account. And me transfer some of this out of account after is not looked at
Marianne ********
@Frode ********
I would probably get another account in another bank to transfer the money to another Thai account before shuffling it out of Thailand and back to your country ( Norway? ).

That way the income-account stays "clean" of outgoing transfers out of the country. And you can say something like you prefer to keep it this way for the ease of documentation or whatnot. IF they even care to ask.
Frode *********

@Marianne *******
Maybe good idea with 2 accounts. But it's mostly to have the 65k available in the country im staying in. So for the time in Thailand it's not been send back to Norway.
Brandon ************
@Frode ********
should be fine. Just don't make it super obvious if you're trying to recycle the money and use the same 65k each month.
