Gotta pick up new U.S. passport in BKK and get another 30 on METV. Before the 14th. Which immigration office do I go to? Hoping it is NOT Chaeng Wattana. Thanks as always.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is looking for information on where to pick up their new U.S. passport in Bangkok and apply for a 30-day extension on their Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) without having to visit the Chaeng Wattana immigration office. Commenters suggest border-bouncing as a possible alternative to getting an extension at Chaeng Wattana.

Sorry. Also wondering how my METV (still with 3 months on it) will get transferred to the new passport....

Feckity.

It won't :/ The immigration office WON'T transfer that visa to the new passport.

They'll make a notation in your new passport that you had the visa in your old passport and you will travel with BOTH passports getting stamped in and out (and getting extensions if any) on the new one until the visa in the old one expires.

If you have an METV you might as well just "border-bounce" to get another 60 days rather than spend 1900baht and half a day at Chaengwattana getting 30 days.

I have had it done....remember not every immigration officer is literate in English....

strange, I've never seen an immigration office or a border put an extension or an entry/exit stamp on those pages that say endorsement on US passports.

Can you believe...I just walk into immigration here with my (full up) passport and they will give me an extension stamp on one of the endorsement pages? We shall see. Update tomorrow.

@Da***
Point taken, you're not gonna border-bounce for anything close to that price and time frame. Might as well just suck it up, get your passport and head out to Chaengwattana :/

I also understand the 6'4 part of wedging in a LowCost Carrier seat, my knees hate me at the end as well...but I just wanted to point out that the total price of going to CW is more than the just the 1,900THB and 3 hours....but at the same time I am victim of money frugalness

Jeremy, thanks. But even with wedging my 6'4" self into a Thai Lion or Nok seat for a 1500 thb r/t flight (which is torture for me) then throw in carfare to and from Don Muang and food, and incidentals, and I am just not getting the math. I believe that Britons refer to this as a "false economy", a term I love. Cheers!

last time I was at CW it took me a total of 8 hours to get an extension...that’s including taxies, BTS waiting, taxies, BTS...total cost was ฿2,500

Where can I do a bounce for under 1900 that takes less than the 3 hours I will kill at Chaeng Wattana? PS: I am in Samui and have to go to BKK to get new passport. Out of pages on current one.

In Bangkok it IS the immigration office out at the gov't complex on Chaengwattana Road
