Hi everyone. I am going to apply for 90 day non o marriage visa. I am in Chiang Mai. I entered visa exempt. Do I need to apply during the first 60 days (at least 21 days before visa exempt runs out)? Or is it possible to get a 30 day extension, and apply at least 21 days before the extension runs out? Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster (OP) is seeking advice on the timing for applying for a 90-day Non-O marriage visa after entering Thailand visa exempt. They are currently in Chiang Mai and want to know if they must apply within the first 60 days or can they opt for a 30-day extension before applying. Comments indicate that it is advisable to apply for a 30-day tourism extension first and then apply for the Non-O visa, but they must ensure they have at least 15 business days remaining on their current stamp. This could equate to around 21 calendar days.

As Ellie stated Chiang Mai requires you have a minimum of 15 business days (M-F not counting weekends or holidays) left on your current stamp to apply for the in country Non-O visa thru them

As you pointed out that's roughly 21 calendar days (give or take) so you need to see how many days you have left on your current stamp, take the one 30 day extension if you need it and then apply,

Have you had one already this year ?

You can apply for a 30-day tourism extension first, then apply for an initial in-country Non-O visa.

Be careful to counting remaining days if you want to get a 30-day extension. Chiang Mai has a policy of remaining days of stamp that is actually 15 WORKING days, and there are several holidays December - January.
