What’s the current status of my DTV visa application in Cambodia and how does it compare to others?

Update: DTV approved after 17 business days.

I wanted to share my experience so far with applying in Phnom Pehn for the DTV. I used Issa Compass out of Bangkok to help me.

Application Submitted: April 19

Application went to "Pending" Status: April 21

Application Type: Muay Thai - Cooking

As of this morning, my application is still pending. I haven't been asked to provide further documents. Today is the 14th business day since my application was accepted. I was hoping that I would have the DTV by now, but I wanted to share that it seems to be taking longer in Cambodia. Curious to see if anyone else is here and waiting like me?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user applied for a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) in Phnom Penh on April 19 and faced a lengthy 17 business day wait for approval, eventually receiving confirmation after an update. The conversation explores others' experiences with visa processing times, challenges when applying in Cambodia, and the impact of holidays on application delays.

There were two holidays during that timeframe, so actually 15 business days. Furthermore, the Thai PM’s visit probably caused consular services to be closed for those 3 days she was in country. Unfortunate time to apply.

I was exactly same pending approval date. I got the approval on Monday after a polite email to the embassy. Maybe they are backed up from new year and public holidays??

Anonymous participant 272 Would you mind sharing the email you submitted? My friend sent an email to embassy since half month ago and still not hearing from them

While all the holidays in this region only had embassys closed for day or two officially, get feeling back office staff have all been taking extended holidays during this period, significantly delaying applications. Probably worth noting for everyone for next year, mid April to mid May is like trying to get Gov paperwork processed in the west during December

Awesome!!!! I'm still waiting over here.

I think it is more likely to be 12 business days since your application. Plus 23-24 april Thai PM visited cambodia so the embassy was probably busy during that time.

It's been 15 business days so far -- April 21 - May 9. Hoping to at least hear back soon. At this point, I just want an answer.
Marek ************
@Sam *******
May 9th, 5th, 1st were not business days, you are counting with that, right ?

The embassy was open today and processing applications. May 1 is only a holiday for labourers in Thailand and not government employees. Source, my Thai girlfriend who is a government employee.

Is the embassy closed today?I wasn't aware that those three days were not considered.

It's so disheartening for me also. It's good to see they are still processing visas however and I'm not giving up that an approval is coming this evening by 8pm. All day I've been in my hotel room waiting.

Anonymous participant 609 from your experience, do they send the notices out that late at night? That gives me some hope. I'm really hoping to get it today, too. I've been waiting in my hotel all day, too. Haha!
Anonymous ******************
@Sam *******
Yes! I've seen reports here as late as 8pm that they are sent out.

So you are still in Cambodia ?

Did you ask your course sponsor which Thai Embassy or Consulate they are having success in getting the DTV visa for its students?

Was Phnom Penh recommended by the course sponsor?

What is the length of the cooking school course of study?

With short course of study...

we are seeing Thai tourist visas being issued instead of the DTV visa by some Thai Embassies and Consulates.

Good Luck 🍀

Phnom Pehn was recommended by Issa Compass and they work with my course sponsor. My course is 6 months long. Thank you for your feedback -- it's super valuable.

Just out of interest, why did you chose to apply in Cambodia over Vietnam?

I personally don’t see any advantages applying in Cambodia, unless of course you were already based in Cambodia, I then see a fair reason..
Jay *********
Anonymous participant 950 do they take 3 month statements or require 6 with the 500,000 baht
Anonymous ******************
@Jay ********
I was approved in Hanoi after transferring a closing balance of 500k two weeks before applying. Prior to that, my balance was consistently around 340k, until I added the extra amount to reach the 500k.

As far as I know, a 6-month bank statement isn’t strictly required in Hanoi — 3 months should be sufficient. However, I submitted 6 months of statements just to be safe.

@Jay ********
are you asking about Vietnam?

Cambodia or Indonesia were recommended to me by Issa Compass. I chose Cambodia, but didn't realize it may take over 10 business days. Hopefully I will get an answer soon. Thanks for your reply.

The Thai Prime Minister made her first official visit recently, When there are high profile visits, everything else stops and all staff focus on that visit. This probably caused a delay. Normally it would be 11 business days

Can I request that could you update the information when you get approve email? Mine is submitted on 21 April and still waiting with the pending approval status.

@Mandy ****
waiting too! The only thing I can think of is they are doing their DTVs in batches and I'm hoping we all get ours approved at the same time (my guess is that they have to use an external department to create the actual digital visa document and they create these in batches OR a high ranking official signs off on them in batches).

We're so close!!! Hang in there!!!
Anonymous ******************
Participante anónimo 609 may I ask that did you get it at the end? I’m also waiting for mine 🥹
Greg ********
Anonymous participant 609 A graphic designer to create a digital visa?????
Anonymous ******************
@Greg *******
I don't know but I imagine they're all created through a centralized department to avoid fraud. What does the group expert say?
Greg ********
Anonymous participant 609 It's just a print off ( paper or digital) with a unique QR code created lonked to that visa. Nothing special about being able to do that. Certainly no need for graphic designers or external departments.

“Pending Approval” does not mean that your application has been accepted or will be accepted.

In most cases, it simply indicates that your initial application and documents have passed a preliminary review by a junior staff member. However, the final decision rests with a senior reviewer, who may still reject the application or its supporting documents during their more thorough evaluation.

Good luck with your application 👍

Cambodia asked my customer to get the gym to get an individual and personal letter from the sports minister!!

May aswell ask for a letter from the king

I don't support Cambodia anymore after that

Things may have changed though, I hope it works out
