Arrival post,

Got approved for the DTV visa two months ago, arrived a month later than my original intended arrival date. Immigration officer seemed happy that I had a visa, and said that most people aren’t getting appropriate visas at the moment. (I believe people have to apply for a visa exemption on arrival pre departure now, but a lot of people aren’t) stamped me in and said after 180 days to leave Thailand, and then come back for a new stamp. Whole process took 2-3 minutes, didn’t ask for any documentation etc. just had a print out of my visa. 🙂

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user discusses their experience entering Thailand with an approved DTV visa, noting that they arrived later than planned but had a smooth immigration process. The officer was pleased with the documentation, highlighting that many travelers are currently facing visa issues. Comments address the misunderstanding regarding visa exemption pre-approval and seek clarification about the immigration office and airport used.

Visa exemption doesn't need pre approval, so probably a miscommunication issue.

Which airport did you enter through?

You can’t apply for a visa exemption pre departure. Nothing like that has been implemented
Greg ********
The ETA ie what you refer to as pre-arrival approval for Visa Exempt is not yet implemented

ah yeah! I see, looks like from June this year it will be required

Tristan Conway-Grim, I believe that is the current plan That is the current plan I believe. It was meant to be earlier this year but postponed. The consensus is this will effect those doing border bounces/multiple Visa Exempts. The "Digital" Arrival Card starts May 1st and that will be required for all arrivals.

when you apply for DTV they ask you for an intended date of arrival in thailand.

It's a separate thing.

Ah okay! I thought you were referring to this part: "arrived a month later than my original intended arrival date".

(Read ETA as estimated time of arrival 😉 )
