What Should You Know About Dressing and Documentation When Renewing a Retirement Visa in Thailand?

ORIGINAL POSTER
Put on a pair of long pants and a shirt with a collar, double checked my paperwork and headed to Jomtien Immigration to renew my extension based on retirement.

I went to the copy shop next to Immigration, gave one of the employees 50 baht to go over my paperwork. I forgot something and the omission was corrected.

I went into the Immigration office to wait my turn.

The young man that processed my paperwork was business-like and polite. A problem arose concerning proof of funds. I had a letter from the bank and an updated passbook but neither stated when the deposit was made. Fortunately, I had several screen shots of my deposit record. The evidence was not conclusive but I was given a pass. I am convinced the long pants were a deciding factor.

I have been dealing with Thai Immigration in Jomtien and Chang Wattana every year for over ten years. Never once had there been a problem that couldn't be straightened out. The Thais have rules and want you to follow their procedures. For example, the dress code is clearly stated at the entrance of the building and yet eight or of ten choose not to comply. You can only imagine what their paperwork looks like.

Enough dress code fun and before the monokini or mankini pictures come into play, I close it down.

They have so many TM30s to process that they are okay with just Speedos if you have to file a new TM30 ๐Ÿ˜‰

Should finish the dress off in a Crombie overcoat, bowler hat and leather gloves just in case it turns chilly ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿงค

Two young women were drugged by a "charming" well dressed man this weekend in Pattaya after they took him back to their room and had about 100,000 baht of valuables stolen. The man could possibly be a foreigner, they added.

Why wouldn't the bank letter and the bank book show the deposit? Because its been untouched for long time? If so then in the future just make a small deposit or withdrawal every month for two/three months up to you apply.
