I’m a US citizen getting ready to apply for a Thai ED visa in the US tomorrow am, and I wanted to know details about what my itinerary / flight bookings should look like. I’ve already booked my flight to Thailand and I have that paperwork squared away, but I’m having trouble figuring out what date I need to book a flight out. Should it be 90 days or for the full length of the visa that’s been requested from the educational institution? (9 months)
Also, when I fill out the application should it be for the 90 day or 9 months time period? I can’t seem to find this info.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A US citizen applying for a Thai ED visa should consider booking their flight out according to the visa duration they are applying for. There is confusion about whether to book a return flight for 90 days or the full 9 months. It's suggested that the application might be more successful if it reflects the initial visa duration of 90 days, although extensions can be sought later. Confirming details with the consulate prior to applying is also recommended.

I have never heard of non imm visa need to have a flight out. Is that mentioned somewhere in the instructions to apply? You should confirm this at consulate when applying?
I don’t know if this is correct but when I filled mine out I put 90 days because that’s the visa and although you get extensions they can be denied .. but with 90 days I put .. mine all got accepted 🙂
This is the reason its much better to let a school here inside Thailand to do all the paperwork and then go to let say Penang and apply for the ED visa there.....
I don't know if that's possible for universities though. I think there's a lag time of about 6 months from the time you apply to a university to the time you find out if you are accepted or not.
