Iām a bit confused about how to state my employment status in the DTV application.
I previously worked in Thailand under a Business Visa, but that visa has already been cancelled long ago and I am no longer working in Thailand.
Iām now applying for DTV under Soft Power.
At the moment, I donāt have a full-time job.
I may receive occasional freelance payments, but itās not regular income.
I do have sufficient savings from my previous jobs and personal savings and can meet the financial requirement with bank statements.
In this case, is it better to state my status as āunemployedā or āfreelancerā?
Iām asking because if I choose freelancer, Iām worried they might question why Iām not applying under the Remote Worker category instead.
Anyone with similar experience, Iād really appreciate your advice. Thank you! š

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is uncertain about how to indicate their employment status in their DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) application. They previously held a Business Visa in Thailand which has since been canceled, and they are not currently employed full-time. They are considering whether to label themselves as 'unemployed' or 'freelancer', given their occasional freelance work and sufficient savings to meet financial requirements. Commenters provide advice on the implications of each label, expressing concerns about potential scrutiny from immigration authorities.
well, their main fear is that you work here illegally and your freelancer job might raise a few red flags. I'd avoid applying at those embassies that tend to be more strict such as malaysia taiwan or japan...
