What should I state as my employment status in the DTV application if I'm no longer working full-time but may receive freelance payments?

Hello, please help šŸ™

I’m a bit confused about how to state my employment status in the DTV application.

I previously worked in Thailand under a Business Visa, but that visa has already been cancelled long ago and I am no longer working in Thailand.

I’m now applying for DTV under Soft Power.

At the moment, I don’t have a full-time job.

I may receive occasional freelance payments, but it’s not regular income.

I do have sufficient savings from my previous jobs and personal savings and can meet the financial requirement with bank statements.

In this case, is it better to state my status as ā€œunemployedā€ or ā€œfreelancerā€?

I’m asking because if I choose freelancer, I’m worried they might question why I’m not applying under the Remote Worker category instead.

Anyone with similar experience, I’d really appreciate your advice. Thank you! šŸ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is uncertain about how to indicate their employment status in their DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) application. They previously held a Business Visa in Thailand which has since been canceled, and they are not currently employed full-time. They are considering whether to label themselves as 'unemployed' or 'freelancer', given their occasional freelance work and sufficient savings to meet financial requirements. Commenters provide advice on the implications of each label, expressing concerns about potential scrutiny from immigration authorities.

You sign this at the end, just before making payments.

All my answers and supporting documents are true and correct is a phrase out of this statement.

So are you going to work as freelance or are you unemployed and living of your savings for the next 6 years?

well, their main fear is that you work here illegally and your freelancer job might raise a few red flags. I'd avoid applying at those embassies that tend to be more strict such as malaysia taiwan or japan...
