Should I apply for a DTV visa based on Thai soft power or digital nomad status as a low-earning freelancer?

Hi everyone ☺️ I am currently preparing my DTV application from France. I am a freelancer only recently starting, and my revenues are quite low for now. Because of that, do you think I should apply for a DTV visa on thai soft power instead of digital nomad? Have people been in the same situation?

Also, is it enough to get classes for 6 months when applying or do you need to prove you will be attending classes for 5 years? If not, no difficulty for re-entry?

Thank you so much 😇

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the applicant's situation as a freelancer with low revenues, seeking advice on whether to apply for a DTV visa under Thai soft power or the digital nomad category. Responses suggest opting for the soft power route if income is insufficient, noting that revenue is less important than bank balance, and there are differing opinions on the requirements and implications for working remotely from Thailand.

You can apply via soft power and work remotely no problem. You don't have to do soft power courses for 5 years.

If you intend to work remotely from Thailand then you need to apply using the workation option. Soft power doesn't provide permission to work remotely from Thailand

Revenue isn’t relevant. Your bank account is…

That doesn’t mean the FR embassy won’t be stricter than others however

I recommend soft power route if you think business is new and income is still not enough

Why not accept the rules?

Wait, save and get a regular income that makes a new lifestyle in another country possible.

Working in Thailand without the correct visa has consequences, this is not France or any other Europe country.

You can find plenty of similar freelancers just starting out with zero to little income who got approved SE Asia, London,USA. Not seen any from France though who is infamous for being among the strictest embassies. Try and search the threads for similar French applicants.

For sure you have to follow law and rules so if your income are not enough you should take a Thai soft power and if you only have 6 months after that they can ask you when you re entry the new contract with Muay Thai school again don’t play with them 😉
