What should I put down for accommodation name when applying for an E visa to Thailand if staying with my boyfriend's family?

Hi, I have US passport and I’m applying for E visa. I’m planning to stay with my boyfriend in his family home during my time in Thailand and I’m unsure on what to put down for accommodation name. Or is it easier if I book a hotel for a few nights and select hotel for my accommodation type? This will be my first time applying for E visa so any advice will be helpful. Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for an E visa to Thailand and staying with your boyfriend's family, you have a couple of options for listing your accommodation. One suggestion is to book a refundable hotel and use that reservation as your accommodation name in the application, as it simplifies the process. Alternatively, if you wish to be more precise, you can use 'private house' for the accommodation name and obtain an invitation letter from your boyfriend that includes their house address, your purpose of visit, and relevant details like your passport information. This approach often aligns with official requirements and may enhance your application.

Just get a an invitation letter (email) from your boyfriend stating their house address and his name, your purpose of visit, staying period, your name with passport details, also your US address if they ask. This is how i recieved my EVisa when I was planning to stay in relatives place in August, 2022.

Just put 'private house' as property name.

Yet another reason why I hate e-visa sites is having to deal with website design issues like this. Before e-visa, it was possible to talk things like this through in person with the immigration officers, but there is no "talking" to a website (!). All the more need for this forum! Thanks for being here, y'all!

Probably the EASIEST way would be to book a refundable hotel through expedia, then put that for your place of stay and upload the reservation in the section that asks for your invitation to Thailand.

If you want to go strictly by the book, then you would need to get the full address from your boyfriend and enter it here, you can put really anything for the accommodation name, and have your boyfriend write you an invitation letter for the part where it asks you to upload an invitation.

so once I book a refundable hotel and upload the reservation I can go ahead and cancel the hotel booking? Or how soon after can I cancel the booking? I have to book the hotel for two months stay correct?

you can book just one night (I did that and then canceled it after receiving the visa)

As soon as they email your visa, cancel it. You don't need it any longer than that. You really only need to show a couple of weeks since they only want to see the first place you are staying at, not hotel for your entire stay. If they don't like it they will email you and ask for more.
