What should I know about obtaining a re-entry visa for my Non-O retirement visa and will leaving Thailand affect my 1-year extension application?

Really appreciate all the positive comments and assistance in this group -

Have learned a lot from you all 😌

We activated our single entry Non-O retirement visa on Friday 7 August when we flew in to Phuket. Will organise bank accounts and transfer funds etc tomorrow. Need to return to Australia on 23 September for family reasons, so this will be before we can get the 1-year extension as funds wont be in bank account for 2 months at this point. My questions are:

1. Where do we get a re-entry visa and when? At airport before departure?

2. We will only be away for 4 days… will leaving Thailand before 3 months jeopardize our application for 1-year extension?
Answer summary
The user activated their single entry Non-O retirement visa and is planning to return to Australia shortly. They seek clarification on obtaining a re-entry visa, the timeline for that process, and whether leaving Thailand before the three-month mark will impact their eligibility for a one-year extension. Community members recommend getting the re-entry permit at immigration or the airport, and they emphasize the importance of obtaining a resident certificate for banking purposes. Additionally, there are discussions regarding the implications of a single-entry visa when leaving Thailand.

You'll need to get a Thai SIM card registered against your name and passport from an internet provider so that you can use banking apps, you'll also need to go to immigration and get a certificate of residence. These two things should be first on your to-do list.

I always assumed Single Entry means exactly that i.e. you have to start again if you leave before extending.

Brendon Kane not if you leave with a re-entry permit and return before the permitted to stay expires

Just be sure to get the re-entry permit before you leave, either at the airport or at your local immigration office. You'll need to go there to get a residence certificate before you can open a bank account anyway
