Oh boy. Well I finally applied for my first visa. I was hoping to get in under the visa exempt plus an extension. If they didn’t post it by the 11th I would be safe.

Was it stressful for anybody else the first time you applied? There is no reason to reject me but I could be a typo away from rejection.

I’ll let you know how it goes in 7-12 days.

OP
Jonathan Seraphim I hear all the horror stories. I don’t think the filling it out was stressful, it is the waiting for the outcome.

You said you hoped to enter under the visa exemption program if the change wasn't published by the 11th. So far it has not been published and there's nothing looking like it will be soon. Even after its published it doesn't become effective for 15 days. You probably would have been fine. As far as getting a visa is concerned remember having a visa does not guarantee entry. Its nice you applied for one but probably didn't need to.

OP
Steven L. Daugherty I travel the 26th. So if they don’t announce it by the 11th, I am ok. My concern was if they announce it on the 8th then I’m rushing to fill it out and praying I don’t get rejected because I transposed a number.

Trust me, I didn’t want to spend the money but until I experience it I’d rather have peace of mind.

Andrew Patron completely understand. There's so much back and forth about it here, bars, restaurants, hotels, all complaining its likely to sit and collect fast for months, but this being Thailand they could publish it tomorrow. Unfortunately you just never know.

Steven L. Daugherty And hopefully $200 gives me peace of mind. Plus I need the multiple entries. Sabai Sabai.

Steven L. Daugherty The esason the OP has applied for a TR60 is because he fears that visa exempt will revert to 30 days not because he has a history of visa exempt entry so there is no reason to expect problems with entry. I expect the OP is arriving after 11-Jul plus 15 days hence his anxiety.

Just a simple tourist should be a breeze. I apply for those so I don’t need to show a round-trip ticket. (yes I know plenty of you have been flying for years on one ways and never been asked, but the airline I fly and airport I depart from does.)

exactly. It probably will be ok but I’d rather not have to worry. I bought my ticket a month before they announced they were going to change.

Two months later, they haven’t posted it but I figure they are getting closer.

Sydney airport has checked my paperwork many times. It generally happens when someone is returned to Sydney based on failing a criteria needed for the visa exempt category, like 2-empty pages in passport, not enough finances to show on arrival etc.

Roger Mcintyre the airline at my regional airport checks for a visa or onward travel every time.
