What is the current status of applying for the DTV at the Thai embassy in the Philippines and when will it switch to e-visa?

Hello All.

I have been told that being able to book / walk into the embassy to apply for an in person appointment for the DTV is now no longer an option in most countries moving to a E-Visa system, which can have a 4 to 6 week turnaround, rather than the previous few day turn around.

Apparently, the Philippines and Taiwan are the only two countries that still have not made this change to the E-Visa system.

Has anyone had any experience applying for their DTV in the Philippines?

Also, does anyone know when the cutoff date will be for the Philippines to change to the e-visa system?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the transition to the e-Visa system for Thai visas, which is expected to take effect in most countries, including the Philippines, by January 1, 2025. Members share experiences applying for the DTV visa in the Philippines, emphasizing Manila's efficiency. However, it is noted that as of late December 2024, in-person applications will no longer be accepted, making it necessary to apply online through the e-Visa system. The expected turnaround for e-Visa applications is significantly longer compared to the previous in-person processing time.

Just travel a week to Vietnam and do the eVisa there.

Don't bother entertaining the idea of submitting any Thai Visa application in-person anywhere in the world at any Thai Embassy/Thai Consulate for a Thai Visa Sticker as all 94 Thai Embassies/Consulates around the world will be on the stickerless (PDF) Thai E-Visa on 1 January 2025.

Also, don't bother going to Manila as the cut off date is earlier than the Thai Office in Taipei's cutoff on 27 December 2024.

And, Manila is essentially closed for normal business until the New Year 2025....

Unfortunately, it is too late for a walk up/appointment in-person Thai Visa anywhere....

It appears that ALL of the Thai Embassy or Consulate in SE Asia are going to be on the on-line Evisa application system as of January 1st or sooner.

Manilla is a great choice for the walk in and i would have gone there if unsuccessful at Taipei. It has been the most helpful embassy regarding the DTV. You will need to check the holidays of the embassy which are on their website to get the last day of opening 2025. 3 working day process for approval there

I actually in the end got my DTV this Monday from Taipei as they give same day approval. I did correspond a lot with Manilla and I almost went there but due to the holidays they told me I would not get my DTV until Dec 26. I needed to be in Bangkok on the 24th so I went with Taipei. They are really friendly and helpful via email and from other successful Manilla applicants it is the same in person. They were the most helpful embassy I have been in contact with regarding DTV. Their walk ins are ending very soon and they will be online from Jan 2025.

Look at the website of the Thai Embassy to be used, to see how long processing time it has, but be aware, that it is high season for visa application, so it can take longer than that.

That’s no big problem if, applying from you home country, where the bulk of the documents and passport also originate from.

Then enjoy the comfort of home, instead of sitting idle waiting weeks in a hotelroom in another country.

January 1st, 2025 is when Manila will be converting to the eVisa.
