TLDR : Answer Summary
A user expressed frustration after waiting 60 days for a visa application approval at the NYC embassy, mistakenly entered a travel date in the future and a flight number marked as TBD. Fortunately, they received an approval email on the same day they posted about their concern. The comments reveal various experiences from others regarding delayed visa approvals, suggesting that contacting the embassy can lead to quicker updates. Some users share tips about applying elsewhere if facing delays with the NYC embassy, which has a reputation for poor service.

I applied at nyc and my flight is next week and still nothing. Kinda nervous since I paid deposits for dental appointments so I can start when I get there since treatments are going to be longer than a year and a half. I emailed and fb messenger them and still sitting fingers crossed

congrats, on getting approved (y)

So it was a mistake that YOU created by putting a travel date later than your actual planned travel? 😮

At least you got it, PRINT out the PDF and present it along with your passport to the officer at passport control when you stamp into thailand

NYC is THE worst. Never use it. You DO NOT have to use "your local, etc consulate".

Jay Wb Is there any trick/any "box to tick" or you just straight up apply at another embassy/consulate out of your jurisdiction?!

i just applied to different embassies, consulates. NYC is supposedly my territory but won't ever use them again. DC is probably the best and most efficient.

Jay Wb Your application absolutely can be rejected if you are outside of the catchment area of a select consular office. So you can’t go and apply at the LA consulate if you’re living in NYC.

DTV_BegPecker I put my travel date as February which looks like I'm hindsight was a stupid decision. I thought you HAD to leave on your travel date so I thought I'd give myself the time, didn't know It would mean never getting a decision

Yes, mine was for METV - rejected and then pending approval upon document resubmission. A friend has a DTV pending there for the same amount of time after the samae incident (submitting additional documents) I can only assume they want you to start over and pay again.

I applied while I was still in Italy. 4 weeks later I arrived in Thailand. Still no visa. Came in on 30 day DAV which you can get in seconds. Left Thailand, went to Cambodia. In Cambodia 3 weeks, finally I got notice my visa was approved. I am long gone and out the money it cost.

Unless you are moving to Thailand, just get the tourist digital tourist visa. If you are moving there- sorry.

How long has it been on pending approval? As far as I know if the application gets no updates from either side for over45days then it'll be cancelled/voided
