I am going to apply for a 60 day tourist visa next week as I am going for 6 weeks on September 29 I know we currently get 60 days on visa exempt but just don’t want to take the chance of it changing to 30 days Question is Do I have to show the ID of the Thai guy I am renting from? His details are on the rental contract
Answer summary
The consensus among commenters is that you do not need to show the ID of your Thai landlord when applying for a 60-day tourist visa. Instead, you only need to provide an address where you will be staying. While it is advisable to prepare for potential questions regarding proof of accommodation, obtaining a temporary hotel booking can be a straightforward solution. Additionally, it's noted that there may be concerns regarding the 60-day visa exemption potentially changing to 30 days, which may prompt travelers to apply for a tourist visa for peace of mind.

You are right apply for the single entry 60 day tourist visa before you go just incase they change the entry rule. Also don't for get to fill out the tm30 online 3 days before your trip.

Don't need id they just want to know where you are staying just for the first day. If unsure then book a cheap hotel room for the one night print out the reservation or keep it on you mobile to up load

I'm going for 6 weeks in December & holding out for no visa exempt change until the end of the year... nothing's impossible if you believe 😁

Lisa Callard Get a visa before you travel because if the visa exemption is reduced to 30 days and your return flight ticket is for 60 days after arriving then you will most likely have a problem at Thai immigration and the possibility of not being allowed into Thailand...

Bob Down that's only if it changes before I leave. Once I've got that 60 day stamp it can do what it wants! But a visa is cheap as chips if I need to get one at the last minute

I am coming to Thailand on Nov 30, and still betting that 60-day Visa Exemption will remain indefinetely till AT LEAST next year since Thailand is now competing with Vietnam & Malaysia to attract tourists, especially during high season. Even the September scheduled road-upgrade inbound and outbound of Suvanabhumi airport has officially been postponed just to ensure there will be no inconvenience travelling to/from airport. And there is also the delay to apply airport tax around THB400/arrival...60-day visa exemption will likely NOT taking any effect this year yet.

You are talking about 2 different visas. There is a 60 day tourist visa you apply and pay for before you go.

Then there is a 60 day visa exemption that you get at the airport when you landed and go to immigration, that’s the one that is currently 60 days with talk of it changing back to 30 days. It has to be posted in the gazette for 14 days before the change is in affect which it has not been posted as yet. It might not even do that, I don’t know what the delays is. Maybe they realise that it’s not going to help tourism.

Peter Slaman when it does or if gets rolled out will be published on royal gazette then 15 days after that. Heading sept 23rd it wont be changed this yr

Peter Slaman It is pending since May 26. Thai government understands the fatal stroke it will cause to tourism to Thailand. They have second thoughts. In worse case if you enter on 30 days exempt, you can receive 30 days more, in Thailand.

If he's flight ticket has a return date 6 weeks from the time of arriving in Thailand and the visa exemption is reduced to 30 days he will probably have a problem at the immigration.

It's easier to book a few nights in a hotel for the proof of address, and after submitting the application, cancel the booking

No, you don’t. You do have to specify the address where you’re staying.

Also, ‘the guy’ will have to submit a TM30 to register your stay, but that’s really his problem until you need one.

Same here. I’m going 13 September for 6 weeks to Thailand. One month ago I applied for the tourist visa and received it. You don’t need to show the id card of the person who you are renting from.

You may be asked for proof of outbound travel

You shouldn't need to show his ID. That's not a normal ask for a simple tourist visa.
