Hi all,

Looking at applying for a DTV visa from Australia.

Not sure which way to go.

Im married to Thai and believe I could apply based on that and or

When I do travel to Thailand I actually still run my business remotely so could apply workcation and or I submit my whole situation.

I won't retire for another 5 years so the DTV will work out perfect for my self as I plan on several trips a year until retirement.

Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
An expat married to a Thai citizen is considering applying for a DTV visa from Australia, expressing uncertainty about their options. Comments provide insight into the DTV visa's applicability for those who work remotely, alternative visa options including the spouse visa, and the convenience of not needing yearly renewals. Some recommend checking official requirements and suggest that the DTV could be suitable given the individual's plans for frequent travel to Thailand. Others note that being married to a Thai is not a direct path to the DTV visa, and they emphasize the importance of understanding visa conditions.

The DTV sounds like good option for you if you have your documents in order it’s pretty straight forward. I did it in Sydney under workcation. I used a step by step guide.

I know 2 guys who moved from the O Spouse Visa to DTV due to convenience. They are not full time in Thailand so it made sense for them. No yearly renewal with immigration visits and 400k tied up in a Thai Bank. Assess your own situation.

They had UK Ltd companies they could use. They got the DTV the first few weeks. One actually has moved onto the "O" now as he moved here full time from the UK. The other unfortunately lost his wife so the DTV has proven to be the right choice.

Hi, you can check the documents for the DTV, sounds a good one for your remote work.

Since you're married to a Thai, you can check this visa too.

And then check what's best for you.

If you want to work remotely from Thailand the DTV is the only way to do that legally unless you work for a very large company

Only 1 option if you like to keep working remotely while being in Thailand:

Workcation.

Dtv has nothing to do with having a thai partner. Check the conditions online in thai government website. Search here for people who show you step by step how to apply. Dont submit heaps of paperwork just stick to what they want. If your still based in Australia why you even need it. You can get other visa easier from Australia up to 3 months. Dont make a problem for yourself just because others do. If you are not living here whats the piint

spouse is only attached to a main DTV Visa holder, eg: I have softpower medical route DTV and I applied for my husband's spouse visa, my DTV Visa number was required to apply for it
