Because most people do not work for Yandex or other companies that can provide the required documentation, they simply do not qualify for the Workcation category. At the same time, many people do not want to use agents and pay large amounts of money for documents that do not reflect their real employment situation.
This can create serious problems later, including additional questions at airports and concerns about how the DTV was obtained and whether the applicant actually met the requirements.
In my view, at the Thai Embassy in Moscow, a large proportion of DTV applications are submitted under the Workcation category if even not all. However, among these applicants, very questionable amount who really genuinely work remotely and can provide authentic real supporting documents. The rest may rely on agents help simply *purchase visa* without having a genuine qualifying employment or remote-work situation, which means they may not actually meet the requirements for this visa category.
This is one possible reason why some Russian and Chinese DTV holders experience additional scrutiny when entering Thailand. When a visa category is repeatedly used by people who do not genuinely meet its requirements, it can lead to greater scrutiny of applicants from those markets and contribute to problems at immigration checkpoints and all this make life harder for all other DTV holders.
