Hi..I just signed up for AIS Sim and post-paid monthly unlimited data ...my mobile works ...but it can't 'see' the network and my laptop can't see it either and so has no connectivity. Any suggestions that might save me trekking back to their shop?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is experiencing connectivity issues with their AIS SIM card, which works on their mobile device but cannot connect to the network on their laptop. Multiple comments suggest various troubleshooting steps, including activating the SIM via the AIS website, using the mobile phone as a hotspot, restarting the device with the SIM card removed, and checking phone settings to ensure everything is properly configured. The user later resolved the issue by returning to the AIS shop, where staff assisted in fixing the connectivity problem.

Just to complete this thread - went back again to them this morning; bit of fiddling and it now works - don't know what the problem was. I would say the shop staff were excellent - and their English phone help was also pretty impressive! Thanks for all the tips and help here!

I get my SIM from the actual company shop (not 7-11) at one of the malls and they setup everything for me

Is it a phone setting issue and not the SIM issue? I had these problems too and Googled fixes for my phone (iPhone). Turned out it was phone settings in my case.

If u sim card hasn’t work yet, Ais can replace it for free and deliver it to u free of charge as well!

Turn on mobile data and then hotspot

Have you tried removing the sim, restarting the phone, and then inserting the sim again? I had something similar happen but I was using dual sim and I had to do some weird things with removing and restarting and it showed again

Thanks - yes done all of that..and it's a single Sim. The guy in the shop set it all up...what I find weird is that I'm connected to internet...but not to a wifi network and so my laptop can't see anything!

. Agree. I had same issue once after a trip overseas. I've had AIS and dual Sim for years. Problem didn't go away until I prioritized the AIS Sim or removed 2nd sim card.

AIS also seems to have a daily brainfart every evening lately too. Happening to me as I'm typing this. Turn off phone and try again later might work.

I just got back to Thailand Friday and my service has been atrocious compared to last year.

. Yeah it's got a lot worse lately . I also have AIS WIFI (CABLE) at home and it's useless for an hour or two every evening. When it works normal it's fine though.

I have the same SIM card. Use your cellphone as a hotspot. Go to settings, connection, tethering& hotspot! Your laptop should be able to see your phone as a WiFi router. The cellphone displays a password, type it in! Done!

did you switch LTE on your phone on?

Try a restart of the phone!

No idea for AIS but my carrier asks you to “activate” the sim to start to use it. You do so via their website with a code.

Perhaps check the ais.co.th website for clues.

I bought a SIM from AIS recently and have the same problem. It’s gathering dust on my sideboard. 555

Thanks Stuart...that does sound logical but I've gone to the site numerous times and all the instructions indicate to select the network....but the network isn't showing...

Get a new sim it’s probably a bad sim I’ve had quite a few AIS sims over the years especially if your phone is 5G you’ll need one of AIS 5G SIM cards
