TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has a retirement visa that was not renewed because they couldn't travel back to Thailand. They missed their third renewal date in November 2024 and are asking if they need to restart the process. Responses suggest that the user must start over, applying for a new 90-day NON-O visa. If they have the required funds in a Thai bank account, they may have options for extensions once they enter Thailand. Discussions also clarify the nuances of different types of NON-O visas and their extensions.

Presumably you have Thai bank account? If you have
*****
0 baht in it then you dont exactly have to start again. Apply for non O in the country you are in and enter Thailand then get 12 month extension at the appropriate time. OR Enter Thailand visa exempt for 60 days and get 30 day extension if you want. Then get 90 day non o in country at the appropriate time Followed by 12 month extension. If you dont have a Thai bank account with
*****
0 baht you should get a non O out of Thailand and open one and season the
*****
0 baht before getting 12 month extension. Use the options to plan your future renewal date to possibly not coincide with when you are not in Thailand. I did this to move my renewal date away from the summer months when I am in the UK.

Now you're just a tourist

Yes, obviously.

Your only option is start with a new 90 day non-O visa

Are there different types of 90 day non O visas to be applied for online from outside of Thailand? I need to obtain the one that can be extended for 12 months based on retirement once I return to the kingdom. 🤷

@Doug ******
There are different types of Non-O but there is only one Non-O for retirement/over 50

Okay I was just wanting to avoid accidentally applying for the wrong one. 🤣

@Doug ******
just avoid the Non-OA which has insurance, police check and health requirements

@Graham *****
Yes, that much I am aware of, thanks. The 90 day period begins the day I re-enter Thailand, right? I mean, not the day the visa is approved I hope. 🤷

@Doug ******
The 90 day reports will start when you get your extension as the initial Non-O is only a 90 day entry stamp

@Graham *****
Ah, so I apply online from outside Thailand, receive the visa electronically, and the 90 day period begins when my passport is physically stamped. Great!

@Graham *****
I don’t think he was asking about the 90 day report. I think he was asking about the duration of the visa and that starts when stamped in not when visa is issued.

@Charlie *******
Yes, probably right. There are two 90 days, one is the 90 day validity of the Non-O Visa from the date of issue then the 90 days entry stamp given when entering during the validity of the Visa.

You had a retirement visa, now you don't. Got to start again.
