I forgot my 90 day reporting as I was in the hospital because of a motor

I forgot my 90 day reporting as I was in the hospital because of a motorcycle accident. Its 20 days over the deadline, what should I be aware if? Will I face any trouble? What extra documentation should I prepare?

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you've missed your 90-day reporting in Thailand by 20 days due to hospitalization, don't panic. You will likely face a fine of 2,000 THB if you go to immigration soon; if stopped by authorities without reporting, the fine could increase to 5,000 THB. It’s important to prepare the following documents: your passport, the TM47 form, copies of your passport and entry stamp, and documentation from the hospital explaining your situation. While the fine is standard regardless of how long you're late, handling it quickly will prevent future complications with immigration.
90 DAY REPORTING RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Use the trusted Thailand 90 Day Reporting Serviceto get your in-person report done and mailed to you for as low as 375 THB (even if the online system doesn't work for you).
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Join the Thai Visa Advice Facebook Group to ask your questions, and get advice from others.

You’ll likely just pay the late 90-day report fine (usually 2,000 THB max). It’s not overstay — it’s just late reporting.

Since you were hospitalized, bring:

• Hospital letter or medical certificate

• Discharge papers

• Passport + TM6 (if you have one)

• Previous 90-day slip (if available)

They normally just process it, collect the fine, and give you a new 90-day date. A late report alone doesn’t cancel your visa.

Ahh yeah—this happens more often than people think, especially with accidents. Don’t panic, but do handle it ASAP.

1) Will you face trouble?

Most likely: you’ll just pay a fine.

Standard fine for late 90-day reporting is usually 2,000 THB

If you get caught first (checkpoint, airport, etc.) before reporting, it can be up to 4,000 THB

Being 20 days late is not extreme in immigration terms, and hospital reasons are generally understood — but it doesn’t always remove the fine.

2) What you should be aware of

✅ 90-day reporting is not a visa overstay

So it’s not like overstaying your permission to stay. It’s an admin requirement.

⚠️ But if you ignore it too long, you can get flagged in the system and it becomes annoying later (extensions, re-entry, etc.).

3) What documents to prepare

Bring these, and you’ll be safe:

Must have

Passport

TM47 form (90-day report form)

Copy of passport photo page

Copy of visa page

Copy of latest entry stamp

Copy of TM6 (if you have one — many don’t anymore)

Very recommended (because of your situation)

Hospital certificate / doctor letter

Hospital admission/discharge papers

Any paper showing dates (even photos are usually fine)

You don’t need a huge explanation—just something official showing you were hospitalized.

4) What to do now

Go in person to immigration as soon as you can.

Online reporting usually won’t work once you’re late, so don’t waste time fighting the website.

5) Will immigration be harsh?

In most cases: no.

They usually just:

stamp the new 90-day date

take the fine

move on

Dont worry about it.

When you leave the Kingsom it dissapears.

If in the meantime you need to use immigration then you'll need to clear the 2000thb fine

I exited last month having stayed 127 days on the DTV. I didn't do the 90 day. I know I was supposed to, but I took the risk (for which I take full responsibility). I will admit, part of my reasoning in not doing so was because I knew I wouldn't be back for at least 2 years. Whether I get fined in the future or not doesn't trouble me.

If you're going to be staying the full 180 days and potentially even extending, or if you foresee any reason to interact with immigration in the near future, or if you simply intend to stay in Thailand long term during the length of your DTV, then I would advise going as soon as possible and coughing up for the fine.

In the big picture it's not an egregious violation, the fine 2000 baht is the same whether you're one day late or one year late. Only your local immigration might notice it if you are in the office for some services. Don't ask don't tell and do your next one on time.

If you wait until the next reporting date it will be a bt2000 fine. If you happen to get checked by authorities during that time for whatever reason, the fine will be bt5000. If you go in now it will be a bt2000 fine.

you are correct, I missed one last year due to my own ignorance but I've been to immigration a couple times since including a different 90 day and thankfully they never charged me.

Just get a Dr note from the hospital and bring it to immigration, they will understand why you are late

Or pay a ฿2k fine

The choice is yours
