What are the requirements and process for extending an STV visa in Thailand?

Hello Everybody!

I have 2 questions regarding the STV visa:

1. Do I need to show proof of a flight back when applying for the extension. So for example I am extending for another 3 month in June so do I need to show a flight back in September?

1. Is the STV visa extension immediately handed to you the same day you apply or will you get a "under consideration" stamp and have to return a few days later?

Thank you very much all for your help. This group has gotten thru so much bureaucracy before that else I would have been super lost in XD.

(I am very sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't find it in the group.)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about extending an STV visa in Thailand, specifically asking whether proof of a return flight is needed and if the extension is granted on the same day or requires a return visit. Responses indicate that proof of a flight back is not required and that the extension is usually granted immediately at the time of application.

Do you already have the required insurance for the next three months STV extension ? And prepaid proof of your next residence for three months? And that you have filed a TM30 for your current residence ?

I do have insurance for the next 3 month and I also have proof of a residence for the next 3 month ^^(I live in a condo). I already filed my TM30 and have not left Bangkok since then.

First, PLEASE do not get an STV.

>Do I need to show proof of a flight back when applying for the extension

No you do not

>s the STV visa extension immediately handed to you the same day you apply or will you get a "under consideration" stamp and have to return a few days later?

I believe you get the extension of stay on the spot. Do you already have an STV though/

Why the sad emotion is the visa that bad?

From Bangkok immigration.

The health insurance requirement is what is causing a lot of people to get rejected.

a lot of people have a hard time getting it extended, and after September 30, you can't get another extension.

From a recent report:

I was in Nonthaburi to extend my STV visa. Here's what the officer asked...

1. Copy of passport

2. Copy of TM6

3. Copy of STV visa page on your passport

4. TM7, use the last updated one or get it from Immigration Office. With a photo affixed.

5. STM 2. Declaration that you're aware about overstay and the penalties.

6. ASQ certificate letter stating that you've completed 14 days quarantine.

7. Some kind of proof that you indeed stayed at the ASQ, i produced my ASQ hotel receipt ( room charges )

8. Health Insurance showing coverage amount, line by line items in details of IP, OP, Covid coverage amount.

9. Rental. To state clearly rental period when to when, at where, 4 signatures either passport or Thai ID at the end of agreement ( the usual standard contract ). If the rental's address is in Bangkok, you can only extend visa in Bangkok. Rental period should cover at least 3 months more.

And sign at every page."

Okay Thank you. I have all the required documents on hand already and still a month to go to my actual extension. I am aware that there have been quite a lot of problems with the visa but I will keep a positive mindset about it ^^. I might update once I receive my extension. Thank you very much.
