Urgent question if anyone has advice. A German friend with a Croatia passport is stranded at Don Muang and isn’t being allowed in. He was previously in Thailand with a 60 day tourist visa that he extended once for extra 30 days. He left to travel in Malaysia and Indonesia for 3 weeks and is coming back to Thailand for one week before going back to Germany. He had asked at thai immigration and they said this wouldn’t be a problem. Now after arriving at Don Muang airport and trying to enter Thailand, the border official says he needs to leave thailand, get a visa from a thai embassy and then come back. No reason given except his « visa was expired »
What’s the deal? What can he do? Would just flying to another Thai airport be a bad idea?
TLDR : Answer Summary
A German friend holding a Croatian passport was denied entry at Don Muang Airport due to an expired visa. Despite prior confirmation from immigration that re-entry would not be an issue, upon arrival, officials stated he needed a visa before entering Thailand again. The situation highlights that Croatian passport holders require a visa in advance for entry into Thailand, as they are not eligible for a visa on arrival. He has the option to return to Indonesia to apply for a new visa or head back to Germany. The incident serves as a reminder for travelers to research visa requirements relevant to their nationality before traveling.
