My 90 day reporting is due on December 31 but I fly out of the country January 2. Should I go to Immigration this week or are two days afterwards departing the country OK? I live in Chiang Mai.

Merry Christmas 🎄!!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user in Chiang Mai is uncertain about their 90-day reporting due on December 31, as they will be flying out of Thailand on January 2. Community members advise that it is best to report in person before leaving to avoid a fine of 2,000 THB for failure to report on time. While there are nuances regarding deadlines, reporting online is also an option, but the user had issues with that. Ultimately, going to Immigration before their departure is recommended.

no, something wrong with my computer. But I live close to Immigration so no big deal. I’ll try again next time. Thank you for checking.

is this your first 90 day report? I ask because you can file a 90 day report online from 15 days before down until 7 days BEFORE your actual due date. (you need to have filed at least one 90 day report in person to get into the data base so you can use the online program.

Thank you.

No, I have never tried online. Good idea. Do you have a walk-through of how to do it? Thank you.

TODAY is the last day you could file a 90 day report online. Try it and if you can get the screen to go past the first page (after the CAPTCHA number) it is letting you file.

All good, I'll go tomorrow. Better safe than sorry (or 2,000 THB poorer). Thank you again. Merry Christmas.

I just had a person who was told (in error) that because they were leaving the country a few days AFTER their 90 day report was due they didn't need to do it.

They didn't, left the country, then came back AND when they went to do their next 90 day report (89 days from the date they got back) the immigration officer noticed they had left the country AFTER their previous 90 day report was due. :O They fined him 2000baht for failure to have filed his previous report on time. THEN they let him do his next report.

Now, will you have any issues stamping out of the country? Nope none. Will you have any issues stamping back in to the country? Nope none, BUT will you have issues when you go to do your next 90 day report? Unknown, you might skate thru and the might not notice, BUT I was there when that guy got caught out and saw it.

Okay first off failing to report on time (15 days before down until 7 days after) does NOT put a person on overstay :/

BUT

With that being said, that "report up to 7 days after" is NOT a grace period where if you're leaving the country within a week after your 90 day report is due you don't have to do it. :O One more time it is NOT a grace period.

The rule is written and states IF you are in the country when your 90 day due date comes up you are obligated to report.

You fly out Thailand but willing to come back 2 days later?

You report that you stay 90 days inside Thailand, if you leave on day 92 you make sure you do the report in advance, like in person between day 75 and day 91

You can report in person till 7 days late, but you report at the Immigration office before you leave, not at the airport immigration check out

90 day report is due on December 31 but I fly out on January 2. I was hoping since we're allowed 7 days later to report it would be ok to fly out 2 days late?

You need to report between the window. It is the report about you are in Thailand until that day. If you don't, they will fine you 2,000 thb on next chance..
