Hi all. New here. Would anyone be willing to share their experiences with applying for a dependency visa. I'm retiring in a couple of months and not sure if I should go for dependency or 'retirement' visa. TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post seeks advice on whether to apply for a dependency visa or a retirement visa as the person is preparing to retire soon. Comments highlight that the retirement visa requires 800,000 THB in a Thai bank, while a dependency visa requires 400,000 THB and additional documentation like a birth certificate and a blue book if applying based on having a Thai child.

Retirement is you have to have 800kthb tied up in thai bank for 2 months before, and 1 month after, then 400kthb for the year. Support of a thai child you need 400kthb in the bank when you make the submission, but the application takes 30 days because it's sent to Bangkok for approval (if your outside) so best to keep it above 400kthb during this. Paper work will require extra for the Thai, berth certificate, blue book for the child. But it can vary office to office so best to check.

On what grounds would you be applying for a dependent visa?
