Hi I am a 58 year old Australian looking to live in Hua Hin Thailand. Just wondering if there is anybody who has done this who would be prepared to answer questions privately on messenger or Line. I am type 2 diabetic so knowledge of the medical side ie obtaining insulin and other drugs would be appreciated Thanks for your time Cheers David

TLDR : Answer Summary
David, a 58-year-old Australian, is seeking advice from expats on living in Hua Hin, Thailand, particularly concerning diabetes management and the availability of insulin. Comments from other Australian expats indicate that English-speaking medical services are accessible in Hua Hin, with experiences shared about obtaining diabetes medications at hospitals such as Bangkok Hospital.

Hi David, I have had a Thai wife and visited Thailand since the early 1990s. I was stranded in Thailand during the pandemic and stayed in Hua Hin for about 6 months and have returned there several times since. I’ve decided to retire there when I reach pension age early next year. No shortage of medical providers that speak English. For me it’s been the city I like most in Thailand.

Hello David. I am an Australian living in Chiang Mai with Type 11 diabetes. I get my insulin in the form of a Lantus SolarStar needle from my treating specialist at the Bangkok Hospital, Chiang Mai. I understand that Hau Hin has a Bangkok Hospital.

thanks Paul I use Ryzodeg but they are very similar. Do you mind if I ask do you need a script or can you just walk up and buy over the counter like panadol. Also how much is it costing you. Thanks and I appreciate your help

many meds that are scripted in Australia are easier to get than paracetamol is to get in Thailand. I have type 2 and only take tablets both of which are sold over the counter at pharmacy in Thailand however much more expensive than in Australia because there is no PBS here in Thailand or any other concession. Best bet might be to liase with pharmacy near a hospital or hospital itself direct.Hua Hin has major hospital representation due to Royal Family connections.
