What options do I have to stabilize my situation in Thailand after being denied entry and DTV application?

Hi everyone,

I want to briefly share my situation and ask for genuine feedback from people who have been in a similar case (please, no life advice or lectures 🙏).

Recently, I was denied entry to Thailand at the airport because I had done 3 border runs. One month later, my DTV application was rejected without explanation, even though I met the official criteria.

I still have important matters and all my belongings in Thailand, so I’m considering the following:

* Using a VIP service to re-enter on visa exemption (I hold a Spanish passport).

* Once inside, applying for an ED visa to gain more stability, attending classes every week.

How viable is this path in practice (VIP → ED)?

Do you recommend going straight for ED once inside, or any other legal option to stabilize my situation?

Thanks in advance for any genuine feedback based on real experiences.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has been denied entry to Thailand after multiple border runs and had their DTV application rejected. They are considering re-entering Thailand using a VIP service and applying for an ED visa. Community feedback suggests checking for any notes linked to their passport that may affect entry, possibly speaking with a visa agent for assistance, and considering waiting several months outside the country to reapply, rather than attempting further entries under the current situation.

You might get in with VIP..

BUT you might have a note linked to your passport which might stop you entering. I would first speak to a visa agent who has good connections (or visit an embassy) and see if you have a note from border immigration in your passport. I once had a note in my passport stating I wasn’t allowed to apply for a tourist extension, the visa agent helped me

Maybe your DTV rejection is related to the denied entry. Border runs alone aren’t usually a problem if you don’t have a note in the passport, my partner and I did quite a few before our DTV was approved.

But maybe it’s not based on this at all and it’s something else. Are you sure you met all criteria for the application? The 500k for 3m, 6 month course, evidence you can support yourself, reputable gym/course with the certifications?

I don’t remember exactly, was there a question in the application about being denied entry or denied a visa? If applicable to you, were you honest in reply to that question?

Given you want to stay in Thailand longer term, I would speak to agent, ask if you have a note in your passport, get help from them and re-apply for DTV.

Why try another visa when DTV gives more time and is cheaper. Sort out the issue rather than try and throw it under the rug! Good luck

What type of DTV category did you apply for?

Workation or Soft Power?

Workation seems to be more likely to be granted if you actually do online work for a company and meet the financial requirements.

Change your passport and apply for DTV in a different location.

You got a big issue, you've already got in the country long enough that you even got denied the entry and got a dtv denied as well. At this point they know you ARE NOT a tourist and they are cracking down on foreigners like you. I second those ones who suggest to stay out of the country for a few months, that's the only way to bring things back to normal, the longer you stay here with these tricks and the more problematic your situation will be. You already got one entry and visa denial, wait for the dust to settle, at least for this year

Nobody is cracking down. He just needs to pay. He maxed out the free trials. Imagine waiting a year of your life (without guarantee) instead of paying them what they want.

Hi Andrew. Can I please ask how to do that 5000 Baht fastrack? Is it just a service booked to meet me as i get off the flight like this...

You don't need Fast Track. You need a safe entry agent. Regular fast track does not guarantee your entry. A safe entry agent does.

Are you sure that nothing is in your record? The burder run isn’t a problem I had many and got the DTV. No

open bills or tickets or anything? I would check in with an agent. It sounds similar to what my friend had, he had something in his files. 🙏 before you spend money try to get professional help.

Maybe try to apply for a multiple entry visa instead? If you get that and use it correvtly you then prove you can follow the rules and legitimate visitor, then after a successful multi entry use you may be more successful with a DTV?

I believe you are pushing your luck way too far and the immigration has clearly found a way to let u know. The best advice would be for you to be out of the country for several months, u already got a dtv denied and then u plan to jump out with another kind of visa (ed) which has been abused during the past years, putting a big red flag I those who apply. You clearly have no intentions to be in Thailand as a tourist and by staying here longer and longer you gonna postpone the trouble with the chance of ending up in the list of "not welcome foreigners" (if you aren't there yet). I repeat, staying out of the country for half a year would be the best choice for your case or apply for a work visa.
