Hey peeps

I hope all is well.

I have a question, and i hope you can help.

I am going to Thailand in Sept with my wife!

But now the Father in law wants to join. He always dreamt about going to Asia. The issue is that he does not speak a single word of English and he gets lost, very easily :D

As we are not traveling together, we are afraid he will get lost in the Visa Control in Bangkok or will not understand something.

How is the process at Border/Visa Control these days?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses concerns about navigating visa control in Thailand for the user's non-English speaking father-in-law who will be traveling separately. The community provides a range of advice, including using visual aids like letters, employing technology like translation apps, and seeking airport assistance services to ease the process. Overall, many comments reassure that Thai immigration typically communicates in a straightforward manner and that many travelers manage without knowing the local language.

Not a big deal. More than half the foreigners who travel to Thailand can't speak a word of English and Thai immigration officers aren't known for their English speaking ability or even for asking questions. They'll just give him their usual surly look and stamp him in.

People have been travelling for thousands of years without knowing the language of the visited countries .

So what ! Just need some intelligence !!

No worries, this company will take care of everything.

When you book your flight, ask for assistance. A wheelchair will be waiting. Help with luggage and take you where you need to be. I just completed a 17,000. Mile round trip alone for the first time. First group on and assistance every stop. Loved it I’m 80. Was scared to travel alone, not anymore.

I was thinking of such.

But we have moved our flights to match his availability. Costed us a fortune, but his dream is to visit Thailand, so he will pay us a nice cold Tiger in Khaosan Road 🤣🤣

No problems. When I have been to foreign countries, I just follow the people until immigration and someone will help also signs assist. You will meet up with him after luggage collection. Could he not carry a letter perhaps???

hmm it’s a long long walk from the gates to Immigration at BKK … can you book him a pickup - for disabled or elderly passengers ?

If they are operating currently?

Contact your airline and or BKK airport.

As he is still working, he might be more mobile than we are assuming

I agree with what you said . As long as the person can read the signs /Reasonably mobile they will be ok . As somebody has said you can get assistance if you book a ride. I was a bit nervous at first time of visiting Suva , But I was being meet by an English mate & Wife . We usually just meet our Family by the Airport police office . Good luck .

didn't you read what he said, maybe not a problem for you ????

Sounds like ...your father in law should not be travelling by himself ...especially this is his first time to Asia .
