What is the minimum income required to be eligible for the DTV visa as a content creator, such as a vlogger or YouTuber? Will the embassy reject the application if the monthly income is below $1,000? Could you please share your experience?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The DTV visa does not have a specified minimum income requirement, but applicants must show they can financially support themselves in Thailand. A critical requirement is maintaining a balance of at least 500,000 THB in a personal bank account for three months prior to applying. While some experiences suggest an income below $1,000 may lead to application challenges, approval ultimately depends on various factors, including individual circumstances and embassy discretion. Content creators are advised to provide comprehensive documentation, including income details and the type of content they plan to create, to strengthen their application.

Hey, I recently applied for DTV from Pakistan, and I'm also a content creator. Let's see what happens.

Income is not in the requirements, but a 500.000 Baht deposit is.

There's no minimum requirement and you can live on 1000 with a reasonable budget. However just because you meet the minimum requirements doesn't mean you will be approved, especially with workcation. Depends on the embassy, the person reviewing it, your passport... etc etc.

500.000 is probably based on a monthly income around 40.000 during one year, so anything lower than that (from my own point of view) should raise concerns from the commissioner. As said before, 30.000 baht will most likely not cover the living costs including internet, rent, travel, food and most important, health insurance.

The most important requirement is having at least THB 500,000 in your personal bank account held for 3 months before the application. This applies across all DTV application types.

While there’s no officially stated minimum income, if you’re applying under the freelancer category and your documents don’t make strong sense and income is lower at the moment, it may affect the approval chance when they question how you can support yourself in the long term.

From our experience working with some other content creators, the embassy often looks for:

1. How much money you make through YouTube or your content platform

2. What kind of content will you be creating in Thailand? e.g. filming daily life, showing low cost of living, and why Thailand is your chosen base

It’s helpful to include a cover letter explaining these two points as well as a link to your channel just to make it easy for the approving officer to view the application at a glance.

If you're open to other options, applying under the Thai Soft Power track (e.g. certified cooking school or cultural program) can be more straightforward. Your current income level wouldn’t be an issue under this route — in fact, your creator background will even help strengthen your case!

I have carefully read and reviewed their legal terms. I understand that some agents and individuals have shared this information, but I am already aware that it is not part of the official embassy requirements. My only concern is the low income from my vlog, as it may not be sufficient. However, I have fully met the other requirements, such as maintaining a 500,000 THB bank balance. Thank you.

Anonymous participant I have already known the official term like below

“There is no fixed minimum monthly-income threshold (e.g. US $1 000) for the DTV—what really matters is that you can support yourself and cover Thai living costs.”
Luit *****************
Anonieme deelnemer and less USD 1000 is not enough to support yourself in Thailand, so if you not have other income or financial reserves they might reject the application. But how do you plan to survive on less than 1000 dollar?

I have income from others that is note related to my remote work. That is the key point.

Anonieme deelnemer they might as for it, and as long as it is legal it should be no problem.

Anonymous participant clearly you did not read and understand if you are asking about income related to the DTV 🤷🏽‍♂️.

I say this not as a negative comment, but you should really read up on the visa you are applying for then come ask any questions.

@Aaron ****
Thats the very definition of a negative comment! 😆

This is a forum to ask anything visa related

@Wayne ******
….negative is advising to read up on and understand the visa they are applying for? Id say thats solid advice

@Aaron ****
Maybe the OP did that. You presuming he didnt makes your comment totally irrelevant, which from your reply, is something you would rather avoid? The irony 😅

Even if the answers are online, which I doubt as the OPs questions are not 'general' questions, they are specific to whoever is working like the OP is and the amount the OP asked about is as well

The most important is the 500k. And remember these 500k are required if you're planning to extend in Thailand. So far, not required when exiting and back but no guarantee this will continue that way. If you're counting on USD1000 to live in Thailand, that will be very difficult, not impossible but forget about living the good life; mostly in tourist areas.
Luit *****************
Anonieme deelnemer 722 the 500K is ALWAYS required, also when exiting and go back, it just is not CHECKED, but that does not mean you don't need to have it.

Right. Agree. Required but not requested.

No specific income requirement. You must have 500K THB in savings.
