I would like to share with the group my experience at Chaengwattana immigration today. I am an American living in Bangkok on an Elite Visa. I recently renewed my passport, and contacted Thailand Elite about transferring my visa over to the new passport.
They told me I needed to have the stamps transferred to the new passport, and have a TM30 before they could do it. The owner of my condo never gave me a TM30, and is currently out of the country. So I decided to try to self-file a TM30 as per Tod Daniels detailed instructions.
I first got my stamps transferred over, then did my 90 day report before trying to self-file a TM30. I got to the queue counter just before they closed. I then walked back to the TM30 area.
Within 30 seconds of getting there my number was called. I sat down before a lovely Thai lady, and handed her my TM30 form filled out exactly as Tod Daniels said. I also handed her a copy of my lease stapled together, and copies of my passport pages that Tod said was needed all signed and stapled as well.
She pointed at the name of my condo, and asked to verify that was the name of where I lived, then she asked if she could keep the copy of my lease.
After that she flipped through my passport copies, and the next thing I knew she handed me the TM30 receipt, and said, “All finished. Keep this in your passport.”
Thanks to Tod Daniels great advice I got my TM30 in under 3 minutes, with no hassles, and no fines.
Big THANK YOU to Tod Daniels. Your, How to self-file a TM30 post, still works flawlessly in Bangkok.
