Quick report on applying for a non O ( marriage) visa for the first time at the RTC Penang today. We arrived around 8-30am and there were around 20 people queuing outside. Doors opened at 9am and everyone moved to the outside document checking area. I handed over the completed checklist from the website ( attached. Note that it needs to be signed at the bottom) with all copies attached to it. After the staff completed checking documents I moved to inside the building where was given a queue number. I paid the fee RM320. Note I used the application form from the website. No original documents were checked. They had no questions for me or comments and at 9-15am I left with receipt in my hand and advised to collect my passport and visa on Thursday 3pm. Went like clockwork. The only document copy that I handed over that isn’t mentioned on the checklist was a copy of my passport page with the Malaysia entry stamp on it. Note when traveling to Malaysia now you have to complete an MDAC ( Malaysia Digital Arrival Card) online before arrival and print out a copy to hand to the IO.

Yes and if you don’t have one the security guard will sell you one. My wife is finding it hard to stop wearing masks so although I refused to wear one traveling to the consulate she had a few in her bag so we were okay.
The main reason why my application went so smoothly was that I went through the reports posted in this group beforehand and took them onboard so I am happy to return the favour. The only question that I was unable to find a definitive answer on in advance was the requirement to provide a copy of the Malaysia arrival stamp but I prepared 2 copies anyway and included them in my stack of documents. The document checker handed one copy back to me and said “ there is a spare copy of this one”. I assume from that that the copy of the entry stamp is required.
