Hi everyone! 👋

I’m looking for some advice from families who have applied for the DTV on their own, without using an agency.

We are a family of 5: two adults and three young children (4 years old, 2 years old, and a 3-month-old baby), and we’re planning to move to Thailand.

I’d really like to try and handle the applications ourselves rather than using an agency, if possible.

My main question is about the application process for a family.

As far as I understand, the correct procedure would be to:

1. Apply for my DTV first and wait for it to be approved;

2. Then apply separately for my wife and children as dependents, using my approved DTV as the main applicant.

Am I understanding this correctly?

Has anyone here actually done the whole process this way for a family with young children, applying completely on their own?

Did you encounter any problems or complications with the dependent applications, or is the process relatively straightforward?

Obviously, using an agency would make things easier but also comes with a higher cost, so I’d prefer to do it myself if possible.

Any recent experiences or advice from families who have gone through this process would be greatly appreciated! 🙏

Thank you! 😊
Answer summary
A family is seeking advice on applying for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) in Thailand independently, specifically for two adults and three young children. They understand the process involves applying for the main DTV first and then applying for the children's dependent visas. Many commenters confirm this method works well, with some sharing positive experiences of securing DTVs for the entire family without using agencies. Key points include the importance of showing actual funds for dependents, the children's need for their own visas, and different scenarios about traveling and school arrangements for kids.

So I’ll explain my situation . We visited thailand fell in love. Got a lease. We then applied in Laos as parents we each got our own DTV as parents.

We were approved.

We returned to thailand .kids are on another visitor but we will leave in 90 days then apply for our children DTV as dependents in Hanoi

We are a family of 8.

There are families in here who have gotten DTV for their dependents easily .

Apply for the main person first once approved then apply for the dependent

We applied in Australia for the DTV. One adult on the workcation and one adult/two children as dependents. It was very straight forward after getting the main DTV out dependant visas were processed in less than a week with no questions. If you meet all the requirements it's very easy and no agent necessary

Are the kids going to school? Here is what I did. I have Dtv my daughter does not. I just travel every 60 days to another country because we like traveling anyways. In December she will start school. They will give her an ED Visa. Then we both will be fine.

2 adults, 4 young kids. We applied for each of us adults. The kids dont need.

Parsippany8139 this is hugely misleading. Kids definitely need a visa. They won't be fined as overstayers but they still require a valid visa.

WhiteGoldfish6259 Right. They come in on a tourist visa. And then over stay.

Parsippany8139 kids also need a visa, or else immigration will start raising an issue upon multiple enties

GentleHamster3563 I bet it’s not your own experience, more like “some people on the internet say so”. Do you have kids? Did they overstay visa-exempt stamps?

Hi there! I think speaking about it to dtv-thailand would help you a lot. They are quick on responding and really skilled.

Not in Italy, but yes exactly as you described.

Also, sponsorship letters for kids did not work. Had to show actual funds for each child, regardless of age.
