Has anyone applied for the LRT(Long-Term Resident) visa type for 5+5 years? I plan to apply because i meet all the criteria, how long did the process take? As i understand, it is possible to apply both within Thailand and abroad through the embasy.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The LRT (Long-Term Resident) visa allows for a stay of 5+5 years and the application can be submitted either within Thailand or from abroad through the embassy. The processing time typically ranges from 2 to 6 months, with recent reports indicating an average of 3 to 4 months. Applicants have the option to complete the process online via the BOI and can choose to pick up the visa in Bangkok or through an embassy. Seeking help from a professional agency is recommended for a smoother application process.

If money is not the case, I would look for a highly professional agency and get advice from them and let them handle the process. There are law firms that specialize in this and have the necessary know-how and experience. I believe smaller visa agencies are less suitable for this.

What a waste of money that would be. The BOI handles everything and an agency can't help.

I don't have any experience myself, so I just thought that it might be clever to get some advice

It can take anywhere from 2-6 months depending on how complicated your case is. Multiple reports of 3-4 months recently. You can apply for the visa from anywhere you want. It's all done online through the BOI.

Once you get approval, you can decide if you want to apply through an embassy for the visa or if you want to pick it up in Bangkok.

2-6 months? I saw on the BOI website show 17 working days only?

I've literally never heard of anyone getting an LTR in that amount of time. Most recent applications have been under review longer than that alone once everything was submitted. It used to be 1-2 months but most recent reports have said 3-4 total for the entire process.
