TLDR : Answer Summary
The Thai Elite Visa is not subject to a traditional renewal process, as it is purchased for a fixed duration, such as 5 or 20 years. When the visa expires, you cannot simply renew it; instead, you must buy a new package. For long-term travelers, there is the option to extend your stay by paying a fee at the immigration office. Additionally, considering alternatives like the Long-Term Resident (LTR) visa may be worthwhile.

If you can afford the elite visa, why not look at the LTR visa?

I'm looking into all options but the elite visa seems very easy and visa stuff is something I don't want to think about to much when there. It is costly.
Chris ******
The only drawback for some is the requirement to prove the income requirement.

Correct - I was told I have the finacial requirements but in the wrong places!! Gave up in the end

LTR couldn't be easier. It's cheap, lasts two blocks of 5 years each and no need for an agent as you're dealing directly with the BOI.

I would suggest you LOOK at the requirements on the LTR/BOI website and see if you meet them under "Wealthy Pensioner" (people over 50)

What package do you have at the moment? Some old packages are indeed sort of "renewable". For example, you can update your old 5-year package to 20 years.

no package yet. Was thinking between retirement visa and elite visa. Coming from canada, the elite visa looks easier.

elite is just a visa for a specific number of years, that's what you're paying the fee for, and when those years run out you buy another package from them, either another 5 years, OR upgrade to 15 years more or what ever they have

it is what it is, you get what you get, it's a trouble free 5 year visa you get without banking a baht of money in thailand, without showing proof of funds in your country or proof of income.

As I said (a couple times πŸ˜‰ ) you're buying a visa to thailand for a specific amount of time, and it will work exactly like Elite sells the program for that amount of time.

Then you buy another one or switch to another visa type

There is no "renewal" of an Elite (Preferred Entry) Visa.

You buy the visa for the number of years your plan allows.

The visa is valid for that time, you get unlimited entries of 1 year each when you use the visa and it runs out when it runs out. (except for the last year when the Elite visa is running out and then you only get stamped in until that expiration date)

If for some reason you don't travel out of the country during a year, you can go to the immigration office with your Elite card, the required documentation and for 1900baht get a year extension of stay inked in. πŸ™‚

You would buy a NEW package after that (which Elite usually discounts to you because you're already an elite member)

i want to buy the bronze card for 5 years. Is the renewal for each year afterwards unlimited?

@Mike *******
As
@Tod ********
mentioned you can’t do an annual extension after your elite visa is expired you have to buy a new package which can be 5,10 or 20 years the last time I checked. There is no limit to the number of times that you can renew your package.

0 baht for another 5 years. But that's why I'm here

@Mike *******
with Elite you're BUYING a visa for a specific amount of time in your case the 650K Bronze 5 year package,

When that 5 years is up you buy a new Elite visa package OR you buy one of the other packages they offer
