Good morning.

I am seeking advice about visa extensions. I am a British National, married to a Thai National living with my wife and her grandson in Udon Thani

I currently hold a 3 month NON-IMM Visa issued in Vientiane in February this year. This is due to expire on Sunday May 24th ( 3 weeks time ). With the current issues surrounding Covid -19. Does anyone know what the procedure is to obtain a further extension.

Many thanks in advance.

Kind Regards

Colin

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, a British national, inquired about extending a NON-IMM Visa issued in February, which is set to expire on May 24, amidst Covid-19 concerns. Responses highlighted that extension procedures remain unchanged, requiring financial proof (400,000 baht in a Thai bank account) and necessary documentation for a one-year extension based on marriage to a Thai national. Alternatively, a 60-day family extension is available without proof of funds. Users also mentioned the importance of applying early due to anticipated high demand at immigration offices and noted an amnesty period for visa extensions until July 31.

Don't worry... You are good until July

Amnesty is until July 31st, however if I was you I would extend now, for sure imm offices would be super overcrowded after that... extensions requirements are still the same, that's 400k baht financial proof, pictures of you and spouse together, tm30 ect ect

You head on over to the Udon Thani Immigration office and get the hand out they have that lists the requirements needed to get a year extension based on marriage to a thai national.

You will need to meet the financial requirements of 400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply for the yearly extension and supply the required documentation. The application will go under consideration for 30 days and then you go back to get the year extension inked into your passport.

OR

You could apply for a 60 day visit thai family extension without the proof of funds.

Long term extensions work exactly the same as before. Meet the financial and other requirements and apply for a year long extension of stay.
