Hello everyone,

Quick question about passports and stamps:

So I have a Non-O retirement visa stamp + 12 moth extension stamp on my passport. I am from Finland and visiting Finland at the moment. I bought the re-entry stamp so everything is ok. Except that my pass port will expire within 9 months.

While still in Finland now, I got a brand new passport.

I cannot remember, which passport I now have to use when leaving Finland and enetering Thailand. Can you, please, remind me, is it the old one or the new one I have to use?

I know, I need to go visit the immigration office after I come back and they will move my visa + extension stamps to my new passport. But do they also move the entry stamps, hence my question earlier..?

Thanks in advance ๐Ÿ‘

TLDR : Answer Summary
When traveling back to Thailand from Finland, you should use your new passport to leave and enter. However, it is important to carry your old passport as well, especially to present the visa and re-entry permit stamps. After arriving in Thailand, visit the immigration office with both passports to have your visa and extension stamps transferred to your new passport.

I recently got a new Australian passport, and in the fine print that came with it, advises me the old passport becomes invalid 30 days after the issue date of the new passport

, That totally depends on the country that issues the passport. Some countries void/invalidate the old passport at the time of issuing a new passport. Some do at the time of the new passport application.

hence why you carry both passports with you until new one is stamped correctly.

You use a new passport to both leave Finland and enter Thailand.

Make sure you show the old passport together when you enter Thailand, and be sure you are stamped in a new passport based on the re-entry permit in your old passport.

Once you are back in Thailand, bring both passports to the immigration office that issued your extensions to apply for the transfer of stamps to the new passport.
