TLDR : Answer Summary
The minimum duration for a Muay Thai class to qualify for a DTV (Education Visa) in Thailand is generally 6 months, as indicated by several community comments. Some users suggest that shorter durations, like 1 or 3 months, may lead to being denied or receiving a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa instead of the desired DTV. There are rare instances where 3-month packages have been approved, but the consensus leans towards a minimum of 6 months for a more reliable approval.

We do 6 months for 15,000 or 1 year for 25,000 Baht. We dont do less than 6 minths as there is a real danger you end up with a METV

6 months most of the time. I saw less in Phuket. But don't overthink it and just do it. By the time you will make all the research you would already have your DTV. Look at Elite Fight Club in Bkk, they're used to people doing DTVs.

I got mine with a 3 month package at Tiger Eye. This was a little over a year ago, but there are still a bunch of DTV people here who have recently been approved with 3 and 6 month packages.

only 40,000 THB plus the proof of 500,000 in your bank, for a 5-year visa, this is dirt cheap

Forget about 1 or 3 months, you'll likely be denied or will get a METV. You'll need at least 6 months or more.

Cheap for a 5year visa. Before dtv i paid

thb for language ED visa (60hours, and conversion from tr to ed), and 5000 more every 3 months for extension (pattaya). That 40k means you would pay the same for 5years (visa is 10k+ alone)

6 months is the bare minimum, preferably longer. Even at 6 months some consulates will issue you with a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa rather than a DTV, which is why I suspect the gym is suggesting 9 months

Just be aware that approval (by MFA) and enforcement (by IB) are 2 different things.
