Hey guys,

Simple question I seriously can't remember.

For the 90-day check in immigration told me it can be 7 days overdue before you get a fine (which also means before I have to go to CW instead of Ratbuarana). My expiry was the 1st of Sept - is it 7 working days or 7 days in general?

Today is the 8th so is today the first day of my fine?

TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
The 90-day report for immigration in Thailand allows for a grace period of 7 calendar days after the due date. If your report was due on September 1st, today, September 8th, would be the first day you incur a fine of 2000 baht for being overdue.

today is the last day you can file a 90 day report without getting the 2000baht fine.

It's 7 calendar days after your report is due, you get fined on the 8th..

I've reported on the 7th day before and not been fined..

no, today is the 7th day after your 90 day report was due, you wouldn't get a fine if you reported today.

Can't answer but jeez when is Thailand going to stop being a bunch of *unts and start making it easier for people to actually come and live here? You speak Thai, you went to school here, you've lived here forever, you've got a Thai kid, a Thai husband, you have a growing restaurant business any you *still* can't just stay here without reporting every 90 friggin days!

After 7 years in Hong Kong you pretty much automatically get full residence. I've been in Thailand 9 years and I might as well have arrived yesterday. I'm investing into this country but it pisses me off that they don't seem to care (or even notice).

Derek Dawson At some point those of us who live here, invest here, hire lots of Thais etc etc would like to be treated like we are welcome guests. I don't mind paying visa fees, taxes etc what I object to is bureaucratic nonsense that really serves no purpose other than to provide jobs for immigration staff. The Thais really do like their paperwork, although having spoken to some immigration people the ones doing it hate having to process forms as much as we hate submitting them.

Same here Put money in their economy Give them work Not the sharpest tools in the shed

@Se**
, I know a LOT of people who do that.

Remember, flying in and out doesn't do the same thing as a 90 day report. All you're doing is NOT being here for the full 90 days in a row so you don't have to report ;)

Tod, yeah I know. Actually I didn't do 90 day reports when I first came here and was on a WP. Instead I flew out every 90 days and enjoyed a few days in HK or Singapore.

I'm setting up a business here and one in Saigon. I'll live in Bangkok but plan to spend at least one week a month in Saigon. So won't ever need to do 90 day reports as flying in/out achieves the same thing.
Tod *********
Nope, none, you get a failure to report stamp in your passport and that's it.

Ugh I'm just gonna wing it another day.

Can't wait till I get my citizenship.

The only way around it, is to not do a 90 day report and then when you go to get another yearly extension, pay the 2000baht fine, do a 90 day report and get your extension. I know foreigners who've only done one report a year, right when they get their new extension and pay the 2000baht fine every year.

Are there any repercussions from having a few late 90 days in the past two years?
Tod *********
unfortunately this ain't hong kong or any other place either.

Until a foreigner gets either permanent residence status or becomes a naturalized thai they're obligated to do 90 day reporting.

You can do a 90 day report at most offices by mail, or the online program, or even send someone to do it for you but any way you slice it you're gonna do 90 day reports.

Amen!

you can be 15 days early or up to 7 days late. After that the fine is 2000baht failure to report on time, so you're getting the fine :/ .

There were people stating that Ratburana and Lad Prao are no longer accepting 90 day reports and we now go to Chaengwattana but no one seems to know when this starts

.

If one does the 90 day report 15 days early, is the next one due 90 days from then?

7 days. Not working days.

7 working days? Or just 7 days?

So if my 90 day says the 1st - is that included in the 7 days or counted after?
Tod *********
If you're really close to Ratburana I'd go try it after they open at 10:30, I mean the worst that will happen is they send you to Chaengwattana
