TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion highlights that those applying for a Thai visa from Okinawa must do so through the Fukuoka Thai Consulate. It is noted that only permanent residents or Japanese citizens can apply within Japan for the D Visa; other residents, including some Japanese, may need to apply in other countries such as Taiwan.

Only permanent residents or Japanese citizens can apply in Japan for the DTV. Other Japanese residents such as myself must apply elsewhere. I went to Taipei and know 2 other Tokyo residents did the same.

Okinawa? Go to FUKUOKA

@Jyuken ******
you don't GO to any thai consulate in Japan OR anywhere else in the world for that matter

At all the thai consulates visas for thailand are sold ONLINE thru the eVisa portal only

In Japan you apply at the consulate based on where you are in the country

In Okinawa you'd apply thru the Fukuoka Thai Consulate

and your point is what? 😕

You do realize that it's an ONLINE eVisa system <, meaning you don't physically GO to the consulate to apply

You are directed depending on where you are IN Japan to apply at a specific consulate via the online web-portal

I meant no disrespect with my answers

It's just not that many people use the thai consulates in Japan for their visas OTHER than people who legally live/work there and the Japanese themselves

You've been told it's common to be called in for interviews IN JAPAN ?

I can probably count on one hand with fingers left over the number of people who have ever posted that they applied at a consulate in Japan since they went to eVisa (other than Japanese) 🙁

It seems that if you don't legally live in Japan long term on some type of visa they are HARD as nails on issuing visas.

I think you aren't gonna wing your way there as a tourist then apply at their consulates 🙁
