USA - CHICAGO APPROVAL

Hey everyone, I wanted to share the good news that my Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) application was approved! I run a small agency and own an LLC. Here's what I submitted for my application (filed on October 28th - approved on 14th November) in case it helps anyone:

1. Cover Letter: A clear explanation of all the documents I included and my intentions for applying for the DTV.

2. Identification: Passport, U.S. Driver's License, and a photo (self-taken with a whitened background).

3. Business Documents: Articles of Organization (proof of LLC).

EIN documentation.

My resume.

Screenshot of my company website.

4. Bank Information:

I transferred $16,000 from my business account to my personal account the same day. I provided: A screenshot showing the balance in my personal account (current date).

A recent Chase statement showing my name and account number (since the Chase balance screenshot didn’t include my name).

Note: I didn’t include transaction details, just the account balance.

5. Proof of Income: A business income statement showing deposits into my business account (dated 3 months back).

6. Application: I provided them with my Condo unit address (in Bangkok) and any flight number I could find leaving the US to Bangkok. Was not asked to show further proof. The fee was $400 USD.

After waiting 2 weeks, I emailed them for a follow-up this morning at 10:30 am (the 14th of November), and at 4:30 pm I received an email with the approval.

I did leave Thailand on October 14th with an ED visa that expired on the 14th of October. I was told that I didn't need to cancel it (by immigration) so I didn't. This is proof that you may not need to cancel your ED visa before obtaining the DTV.

I hope this breakdown is helpful to anyone applying or considering it. If you have questions, feel free to ask! 😊

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user successfully shared their experience applying for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) in Thailand, detailing the required documentation and the approval timeline. They highlighted the importance of submitting a cover letter, identification, business documents, bank information, proof of income, and their application details, including a condo address in Bangkok. The user noted that after a 2-week wait, they received approval even though their previous ED visa had expired, suggesting that cancelling the ED visa may not always be necessary. They answered community questions regarding timelines for returning to Thailand after approval and clarified misconceptions about visa cancellation.

ED automatically gets canceled when you leave the country. unless its a multiple entry one from a university for example.

Congrats!! May i ask if there is a time limit when you have to go back to Thailand? I want to apply but may not get there until late 2025.

When you tell you plan to travel late 2025 they might just cancel your application, making you loose your money, so better fill in a planned date within 3 months if for some reason you now want to apply.

Nobody will check your real travel date, but when you apply now you will only profit from your visa about 4 years.

The other option is just wait till 3 months before you travel.

when filing out the application it does state in the site “not to apply if your entry date is beyond 90 days” but mine is right around the 90 day mark. Bur yet my visa also says valid until 2029.

there's NO time limit on entering Thailand. The DTV Visa is a multiple entry Visa and is valid for 5 years FROM the DATE it is ISSUED. NOT from the date you first enter Thailand.

Although the approval may be delayed until your planned flight date to Thailand.

I still do not get th concept that some espouse that you need to still cancel a visa if it is expired. I get cancelling before expiration in some cases but if a visa lapses then surely it is cancelled/invalidated? I have had to have 2 visas cancelled in the past but both had months to run.
