It shows how low tourist numbers are in Patong as a Big C and Central (as in Central Festival Pattaya) are closed.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion reveals a significant decline in tourist numbers in Patong, evidenced by closures of shopping centers like Big C and Central Festival Pattaya. Despite some recovery with markets reopening, many locations remain quiet, and there are mixed reports about the situation across different areas, including Bangla Road and Karon & Kata. The conversation touches on long-term trends affecting tourism, such as infrastructure changes and the lingering impacts of Covid-19, as well as community insights on local conditions.

The flow of patrons vary depending on the day of the week, including lottery drawing days, pay days, etc. The crowds in BKK and Pattaya flows rapidly based on the norms in Thailand.

And as
@Don *****
mentioned; places like Patong and Pattaya have been dying for years. Covid and policy have just added more fuel to the fire.

On a side note: Pattaya has been spending 馃挵 on underground infrastructure through the area recently. Paving the way for the new China.. perhaps new Chinese "boomers" will settle here in the coming years... New light rail is on it's way. Albeit; to the debt of the countries it passes through.

These are just insights and not necessarily my opinion..

Mate I don鈥檛 know how long you鈥檝e been coming to this country but Bangla,Phuket and any other tourist destination you like to name in this country have been dying for the at least the last 10 years, way before Covid was even heard of. This is still a great country but is being ruined by poor leadership as in most countries in the would today.

Just went to Patpong to see the musuem, night markets closed

Michael Dawson. The Night Market in Patpong has been closed for two years. Very eerie walking down that street, although a couple of the bars are open but very deserted

But there is a return of more bizarre style markets now. How is it right now still very quiet?
